Job Description:

The TD Insurance Bodily Injury Claims Department is responsible for delivering ease and value to our customers through simple, fast and fair claims resolution. Our department also ensures financial results by focusing on the client experience, strong risk management, a well-run operating model and by being an extraordinary place to work.

Description:

  1. Investigates claims regarding liability, injuries and other accident related damages promptly and thoroughly by pursuing investigation to logical conclusion.
  2. Establishes and maintains adequate case reserves by adhering to the BI reserving protocol and practices; complies with all established protocols regarding identification, notification and reporting to Major Claims; complies with all established protocols respecting claims settlement authority.
  3. Collects and documents claims related information in a clear and concise manner while adhering to established protocols to ensure accuracy and quality of information.
  4. Manages both potential indemnity and expense to ensure sound cost management principles and practices.
  5. Exercises sound judgment in the evaluation and resolution of all meritorious claims considering all available information adhering to established guidelines.
  6. Makes prompt contact (in person where practical) with all unrepresented claimants to establish and maintain a relationship of trust and cooperation in order to resolve claims of minor to moderate complexity in a timely manner through a fair and proactive process.
  7. Manages expectations of claimants throughout the claims process by maintaining regular follow up contact, and delivering on commitments made to resolve claims in a timely manner and fair process.
  8. Communicates with clients, third party claimants, witnesses, health care professionals, law enforcement personnel and forensic experts with respect to their role, rights and responsibilities in the claim process in order to establish and maintain their cooperation and/or collaboration.
  9. Completes all required reports and all notepad entries in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  1. Ideally, you will have a minimum of 2-3 years of liability claims handling experience.
  2. You have an early understanding of the insurance industry and the related legal environment.
  3. You are able to prioritize and complete all claims handling related activities around the availability and accessibility of clients, third party claimants, witnesses, health care professionals, law enforcement personnel and forensic experts as required.
  4. You have superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  5. You have a strong client service orientation.
  6. You possess excellent organization and time management skills.
  7. You have effective analytical skills and you are detail oriented.
  8. You have strong negotiation skills.
  9. You have the ability to adapt effectively to a changing environment.
  10. You are able to function effectively in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment.
  11. You are able to work independently and with minimum supervision.
  12. C.I.P. designation or actively working towards C.I.P. designation is required for licensing purpose; completion of course C11 or equivalent is required to be considered for the role.
