Are you ISM’s new Project Manager (Proposal Manager)? The ideal candidate will combine expertise in project management, writing/editing, and communications. You’ll work as part of ISM’s Business Solutions Group, collaborating with colleagues including account executives, and solution, cost, and technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs). You’ll seize the opportunity to have a tangible impact - improving proposal quality, building trust and rapport with colleagues, and making recommendations for process improvements to encourage repeatable success.

NOTE: the preferred work location for this position is Regina, SK; however, the work location will be dependent on the location of the successful candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting solicited (RFX) and unsolicited (proactive) proposals; pre-proposal activities (e.g., client research, collation of resumes and project descriptions); and oral presentations (e.g., content creation and coaching presenters on delivery and state)
  • Facilitating workshops including, but not limited to: kick-off, win strategy, answer planning / storyboarding, reviews, and internal lessons learned
  • Writing non-technical content such as cover letters, executive summaries, resumes for proposed resources, project summaries
  • Reviewing and editing technical content with a focus on compliance, addressing evaluation criteria (maximizing scoring), and meeting page/word/character requirements as applicable. Providing candid feedback on how to improve the quality of the response.
  • Producing proposal content that’s accurate, current, client-centric, clear, persuasive, benefits-led, and supported by proof points (e.g., statistics, testimonials), and reflective of client needs and ISM’s strategic growth objectives
  • Final proofreading and formatting
  • Collaborating with the marketing team on graphics and document design/layout
  • Attending governance meetings (e.g., go/no go, solution/pricing sign off)
  • Contributing to the upkeep of the knowledge management systems by identifying new content/required updates to existing content
  • Managing communications with clients including, but not limited to submission portals and clarification questions and answers
  • Working with ISM teaming partners (subcontractors, Joint Ventures) as needed

Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in proposal management and/or proposal writing
  • Post-secondary education in English, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field
  • Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) certifications and active membership
  • A comprehensive understanding of the business development lifecycle
  • Ability to work independently and manage time/energy across multiple concurrent proposals
  • Advanced communication skills (e.g., verbal, non-verbal, written) and communication style versatility (i.e., active listening and flexing to others’ preferred communication styles)
  • Ability to influence without authority – leading cross-functional proposal teams and providing coaching on aspects of proposal management
  • Curiosity and an abundance mindset – staying up to date with the latest proposals trends, and sharing knowledge with your colleagues

Key Skills & Abilities:

  • Using collaborative technology - Microsoft Office 365 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Teams and SharePoint
  • Experience managing proposals in the technology sector considered an asset
  • Experience using proposal automation tools considered an asset
  • Graphic design skills using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator considered an asset
  • Ability to read, write and speak both English and French considered an asset
