We are seeking a highly skilled, talented, and detail-oriented Reinsurance Financial Specialist to join an innovative environment where creativity knows no bounds. As a key member of the dynamic reinsurance finance team, you will play a crucial role in participating in complex reinsurance accounting activities and contributing to improve closing activities. Responsibilities:

  1. Participate in the accounting and reporting cycle of reinsurance activities.
  2. Perform reinsurance accounting and reporting activities during month-end & quarter-end from the preparation of reinsurance journal entries to providing monthly or quarterly analysis to validate reinsurance results and perform appropriate control to ensure the accuracy of the financial results under your responsibility.
  3. Manage reinsurance premium settlement or reinsurance claims collection and update the statement of account to be distributed to clients. Apply cash or payment received to the appropriate reinsurers/brokers to maintain accurate balance with external parties.
  4. Manage required collateral from reinsurer and collaborate with the treasury and the capital team to maintain appropriate level of capital.
  5. Perform key account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness of the reinsurance balance and perform reinsurance settlement with key reinsurers.
  6. Participate in the preparation of the financial statement disclosure as well as in the preparation of the regulatory reporting (Pc1) for the insurance regulators.
  7. Provide insight and recommendations to your leader about reinsurance results.
  8. Ensure to implement, perform and improve all key controls to ensure high quality of improvement provided to our leader.
  9. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure alignment in the month-end closing process.
  10. Evaluate current processes and propose recommendations to be more efficient and provide quicker results and insights.

Requirements:

  1. 2+ years experience in Insurance or Reinsurance accounting is required.
  2. 3+ years of experience in accounting, IFRS accounting standards or finance is required.
  3. Professional accounting designation (CPA) – is an asset.
  4. Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  5. Demonstrated experience in fast learning environment requiring agility and adaptability to change.
  6. Discipline, autonomy and professionalism.
  7. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Can interact with various people at all levels of the organization, including management and some external stakeholders.
  9. For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
