Position Summary: The Senior Analyst, Finance (SFA) will join the Finance team within the Brookfield Reinsurance group, located in our head office in Downtown Toronto. The SFA role is a highly visible position that provides the foundation, guidance, and exposure towards a challenging and dynamic career. The SFA will be involved in financial reporting, compliance, and forecasting, with opportunities to provide leadership and mentorship to co-op students and new hires.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements and public documents on a quarterly and annual basis, including the MD&A and other public materials.
  • Act as the financial business partner to the company's operating subsidiaries ensuring quarterly submissions are provided on a timely basis and are complete and accurate.
  • Participate in the resolution of complex technical accounting issues.
  • Assist in the coordination with the company's external auditors.
  • Compile, analyze, and report on corporate and key business platforms including operating metrics.
  • Assist in preparation of various analyses and reports for senior management to support business decision making, and for the board of directors.
  • Support internal and external audit teams in relation to quarterly reviews, the annual audit, and SOX compliance.
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses and presentations on platform financial and operational results, as well as support any special projects.
Requirements:
  • Three to five (3-5) years of progressive work experience in an accounting or auditing function.
  • Experience with SEC and/or OSC public company reporting requirements for companies reporting under IFRS and/or US GAAP.
  • Experience in the Insurance industry is an asset.
  • A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA, CA).
  • Strong financial systems experience, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and a team player.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to manage changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Self-motivated and pro-active regarding workload and professional development.
