We are seeking an experienced Communications Lead/Consultant/Specialist to join a transformational change project. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in leading communications efforts around business readiness activities, technical requirement documentation, and aligning workstreams across multiple teams.

The Communications Lead will focus on internal and external communications, ensuring effective messaging for all stakeholders, including senior leadership, governance teams, internal employees, and external customers. This individual will manage the communication process through various channels and work closely with local utility companies to ensure that customer reactions and responses are handled in alignment with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Internal Communication:
  • Develop and implement communication plans to align various workstreams, ensuring all parties are informed and coordinated.
  • Communicate internally with senior leadership and governance teams to provide updates on project progress and key milestones.
  • Utilize tools such as email, SharePoint, Yammer, and team meetings to facilitate communication within the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure clarity and alignment across the project and workstreams.
  • External Communication:
  • Develop and execute communication strategies to address how changes will impact customers.
  • Work with local utility companies and leverage their communication channels (e.g., bill inserts, newsletters, website, email) to communicate directly with customers.
  • Create customer-focused messaging to help employees communicate effectively with customers and address customer reactions and concerns.
  • Prepare and deliver external communication materials related to the project, ensuring customer understanding and managing expectations.
  • Project Coordination:
  • Coordinate communication efforts related to the project's transformational changes, ensuring all stakeholders are kept informed and involved.
  • Work closely with external teams in the US across three locations to align communications and ensure consistency across all channels and regions.
  • Support the documentation of technical requirements based on workshops and sessions that inform communication strategies.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • University degree in Communications or a related field.
  • Proven experience in transformational change communications, particularly in complex projects.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to align and coordinate communication plans across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Customer-centric approach to communication, with an understanding of how change impacts external stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor communication to different audiences.
  • Strong experience with email communication, SharePoint, team meetings, and Yammer for internal communications.
  • Ability to work independently, proactively manage tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with senior leadership and governance teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in the energy or utility sector.
  • Familiarity with change management practices, specifically Organizational Change Management (OCM) and Business Readiness activities.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing communication strategies, especially in a regulated environment.
  • Experience working with external stakeholders, including utility companies, to drive communications initiatives.
