We are currently looking for a Superintendent to join our team This Superintendent would be in our Buildings Division and would contribute to the construction of projects across various sectors – including education, civil works, transit, public buildings, retail, and private developments.


Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, the Superintendent is to contribute to the construction of projects by ensuring work is completed safely and with a high-level of quality, the project schedule is adhered to, as well as through the provision of supervision of all site-based resources including production personnel, materials, and subcontractors.


Performance Expectations:

  • Be dedicated to safety. Work safely at all times, always keeping in mind the safety of yourself and others.
  • Be familiar with and comply with all company policies and standards and practices.
  • Be honest, punctual, reliable, organized, proactive; display initiative, attention to detail and strive for excellence.
  • Display time management skills to meet deadlines, as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Be able to perform effectively under pressure in a dynamic environment; demonstrate problem solving solutions
  • Do work of acceptable quantity and quality as directed.
  • Cooperate with co-workers to accomplish any given task.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly with supervisors and/or management if an issue arises which needs to be resolved.
  • Present appropriate image to represent the company favourably to the public, peers and to clients.
  • Be prepared to work outdoors bearing in mind current weather conditions and forecast predictions.


Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a safe site at ALL times, including your safety and the safety of others, and uphold CoR duties;
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring Rutherford’s Safety Program, Rutherford’s Company Policies, Environmental Program, and QC Program.
  • Participate in project-related meetings;
  • Communicate with other project team members on a regular basis;
  • Complete site inspections prior to mobilization;
  • Execute projects in accordance with cost/time allocation budget; monitor projects’ requirements and progress continuously;
  • Exercise project planning and scheduling;
  • Monitors the overall progress of projects and takes corrective action where necessary;
  • Coordinate and monitor the effective, efficient and safe use of all resources dedicated to the projects;
  • Maintain thorough and accurate project documentation and reports;
  • Ensures compliance with union agreements;
  • Ensure contracts are adhered to and site work is carried out in accordance to the plans and specifications;
  • Ensure acceptable end product; and
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years in the role of Superintendent for industrial, commercial and institutional construction projects.
  • A technical diploma in a construction-related field (i.e. C.E.T) or Gold Seal Certificate would be an asset.
  • Strong ability to manage relationships and people.
  • Experience with CoR would be an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment and ability to adapt to unexpected situations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Understands the importance of health and safety on the job and is proactive about it.
  • Possess a strong ‘Get-it-done’ attitude.
  • Possess a valid G driver’s license.
