Resolute Forest Products Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Forestry Superintendent to join our team in Thunder Bay, Ontario. As a key member of our forestry operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the sustainable management of our forest resources.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating forest management planning, renewal operations, financial renewal budgeting, and government relations for all Sustainable Forest License areas where Resolute procures fibre. This includes developing and implementing forest management plans, coordinating annual work schedules, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement forest management plans that meet or exceed regulatory requirements
- Coordinate annual work schedules and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Provide forest renewal and maintenance direction, coordination, and support to ensure effective regeneration
- Oversee the preparation of annual work schedules (AWS) that guide road construction, harvest, and renewal operations on the SFL
- Ensure all necessary work permits, cut approvals, AWS revisions, and FMP amendments are obtained
- Lead and support R&D programs to promote sustainable forest management and continual improvement in forest operations
- Ensure application of the highest safety standards to achieve superior health and safety results
- Advise operational staff on the application of guidelines and prescriptions included in the forest management plan
- 10 years of proven forest management planning experience
- Degree in Forestry; Registered Professional Forester (RPF) designation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team, communicate with all levels of the organization, see the big picture, and adapt quickly to change
- Strong attention to details, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- In-depth knowledge of MS Office and solid computer skills
