The Manager, Projects & Strategy will play a crucial role in managing the credit union's strategic goals and ensuring they are met through effective project management. The incumbent will collaborate with senior leadership to define the credit union’s strategic direction and will create detailed plans to achieve long-term organizational objectives. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the manager implements change management strategies to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new processes or projects.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational initiatives, including thorough project evaluation, efficient project management, effective leadership, and seamless project execution.
  • Implement and lead change management strategies to ensure successful adoption of new initiatives and smooth transitions within the organization.
  • Assist in the creation and continuous improvement of the organization’s strategic and annual operating plans, ensuring they are comprehensive, realistic, and aligned with long-term objectives.
  • Build, implement, and maintain robust frameworks for project planning, tracking, and communication, ensuring these frameworks facilitate transparency, accountability, and efficient project progression.
  • Actively support and contribute to the ongoing execution of the organization’s Lean deployment strategy, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to conduct comprehensive reviews and updates of the products and services, ensuring offerings remain competitive, innovative, and aligned with member needs and market trends.
  • Establish, monitor, and report on KPIs to track the success and impact of strategic initiatives and projects, using data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjustments.
  • Provide regular updates and detailed reports to senior and executive leadership and interest holders on the progress of strategic initiatives and projects, ensuring transparency and accountability.
  • Promote a culture of innovation by identifying opportunities for new products, services, and technological advancements that enhance the credit union’s offerings and member experience.
  • Conduct thorough market analysis to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities, using these insights to inform strategic planning and product development.
  • Identify potential risks associated with strategic initiatives and projects, developing and implementing effective risk management strategies to mitigate risks and ensure project success.
  • Ensure all strategic initiatives and projects comply with relevant regulations and standards, safeguarding the credit union's reputation and operational integrity.
Required Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:
  • Secondary School Diploma.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in project management or strategy development, preferably in the financial industry.
  • Proven track record of managing complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic plans within a financial institution or similar organization.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional teams, showcasing the ability to influence and drive change.
  • Lean certification considered an asset.
