What it's all about:As the Safety & Compliance Officer, you will work closely with management, drivers, dispatch and other departments to ensure the safe, continual operation of our fleet and employees. You have a keen interest in continuous improvement and keep up to date on industry and regulatory changes. Your main areas of responsibility include:Assist in onboarding and driver training/orientation.Ensuring compliance with all federal, provincial, and US laws and DOT regulations.Monitor company rating CVOR, PVEL, USDOT, etc. Maintaining driver records for violations, investigating and assessing violation and taking appropriate corrective actions.Updating driver company policies as needed.Take disciplinary actions when policies are violated assisted by HR and Operations department.Monitor and review ELD compliance and accuracy and correct any driver-related ELD issues.Maintain all equipment files (trucks, Trailers, Chassis, and yard equipment) and have all related documents, authorities, permits, and plates updated.Scheduling safety meetings/training when required with drivers.Manage and monitor accidents, related claims, disputing violations & tickets.Coordinate road calls with mechanics and minimalize service interruptions.Identifying causes, assess driver attitude, and deliver counseling and/or apply appropriate training to affect positive change and reinforce the culture of safety. Counsel drivers within one-on-one interviews regarding safety issues.Inform and make recommendations on all matters related to safety and compliance.Note: This Job Description may not encompass the entire scope of this role, as other duties maybe assigned by management.POSITION REQUIREMENTSCEGEP diploma in logistics, transport, administration or any related field or equivalentFluently bilingual (English/French) both verbal and writtenStrong knowledge of safety and compliance in the trucking industry, preferably cross-border liaisonsIdeal Candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar roleMust be a team player and have effective, efficient & professional communication skills.
