Reports to: Construction Safety Manager


Essential Functions:

Expectation that they will help in supervision in any way possible. For example, walking around the job site, stopping the work if have seen anything dangerous happening and reporting it to supervision and manager. Some responsibilities include but not limited to: Promote Safety throughout Mosaic, administration of EHS Program, promote the highest level of safety throughout Mosaic Transit group, provide direction and support for all supervisors regarding their responsibilities for maintaining safety discipline, ensure all workplace parties fulfill their responsibilities for the EHS program, have good working knowledge of WSIB policies and participate and support “pre planning” stages of projects, assist in the management of worker’s compensation claims.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety Act and Regulations for Construction projects.
  • Preferred National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO).
  • Familiar with construction terminology.

  • Must be a leader of safety excellence, resourceful, organized and understand the principles of Health and Safety Management, industry best practice and provincial Health and Safety legislation
  • Ability to identify problem/issues, generate solutions, resolve conflict and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to communicate with tact and diplomacy
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements that govern worker health and safety , physical assessment and ergonomic skills; case management skills
  • Proven ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to respond to unanticipated events to ensure excellence in customer care
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to manage time and work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to follow written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to communicate well via the written word or verbally
  • Ability to maintain a flexible attitude and approach to assignments
  • Able to perform in a fast paced environment

Qualifications:

  • Valid G drivers licence.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in construction Health and Safety.


Working Conditions/ Physical Effort:

  • Full time on the construction site.
