We are currently seeking a Lead Interior Designer to join our growing team.


Position Overview:

The Lead Interior Designer will lead and inspire our interior design team, overseeing the development and execution of creative design solutions. This role requires a visionary leader who can integrate seamlessly with our clients' processes, foster strong client relationships, and actively participate in sourcing new business; the ideal candidate will have a blend of design expertise and business acumen, driving both project success and firm growth.


Responsibilities:

  • Actively secure new clients, leveraging existing networks and building new relationships to expand our client base;
  • Attend industry events, engage with potential clients, and represent the firm in various networking opportunities;
  • Participate in design presentations, business development pitches, and ongoing project correspondence;
  • Collaborate with the team to create compelling and informative presentations that exceed visual expectations;
  • Integrate with clients' processes and design philosophies to deliver exceptional work that meets their unique needs;
  • Work with clients to determine programming requirements and establish clear project goals and objectives;
  • Develop preliminary floor plans and schematic design to facilitate creation of renderings;
  • Provide space planning solutions that align with functional programming, building code requirements, and overall design objectives;
  • Lead site surveys, thoroughly document, and verify existing site conditions;
  • Support or lead contract administration, attending site visits to ensure design conformance and quality;
  • Understand the requirements of plans, life safety, building codes, and other technical aspects relevant to interior design;
  • Manage the production of high-quality contract documentation using Revit for client review, permit applications, tender, and construction;
  • Assist with permit and bid applications as necessary;
  • Coordinate with and manage external teams, including engineers, consultants, vendors, and general contractors;
  • Support internal teams across a variety of projects to serve clients within Interior Design and Architecture effectively;
  • Manage team deliverables, project schedules, and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget;
  • Research, gather, and recommend finishes and furnishings that meet functional, aesthetic, environmental, and budgetary requirements;
  • Specify furniture, lighting, fixtures, and hardware for projects;
  • Mentor and train interior designers and technicians, fostering professional growth within the team;
  • Actively participate in professional development activities and peer reviews to stay current in the field.


Requirements:

  • Degree/Diploma in Interior Design or related field;
  • Residing Vancouver.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial, mixed-use, and residential projects;
  • Registration or on the path to registration with IDIBC/NCIDQ;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain relationships;
  • Driven, self-directed and capable of working independently;
  • Strong understanding of how texture, light, and color interact to create environments;
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills, and efficiency in generating project workflows;
  • Proficiency in Revit is an asset;
  • Passionate about design and project management;
  • Positive, patient, and adaptable individual;
  • Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills;
  • A compelling design portfolio and excellent references.
