The Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce (FMCC) is dedicated to supporting and advocating for local businesses. We are committed to fostering a thriving business community by providing valuable programs, events, and opportunities for our members.
We are currently seeking a dynamic and motivated Continuity and Engagement Manager to join our team. They’ll learn and know every critical role in our organization so they can support our Executive Director whenever extra hands are needed, including in situations of vacations and other vacancies. This role requires an ability to understand the big picture, strong networking skills, an eye for finances and budgets, and exceptional follow through.
This full-time role reports to the Executive Director, works regular office hours from Monday to Friday, with a need to support event execution outside of regular hours.

How You’ll Move the Needle
The successful candidate will be able and ready to support any role in the organization, including in the following areas.
Strategic Planning and Execution:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.
- Foster a sense of community among members through regular communication and engagement activities.
- Monitor and analyze member engagement metrics to identify areas for improvement.
Member Engagement and Retention:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance member engagement and satisfaction.

Member Growth:
- Identify and engage potential new members through networking, outreach, and promotional activities.
- Develop and execute initiatives to attract new members to the Chamber.
Program, Event, and Trade Show Coordination:
- Plan, organize, and execute a variety of events, including networking events, educational workshops, and the Annual Business Awards Ceremony and Birdies for Business Golf Tournament.
- Manage event budgets, ensuring cost-effective delivery of high-quality events.
- Strategically evolve all Chamber events, including cultivating existing and new sponsorship relationships.
Stakeholder/Government Relations and Advocacy:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials and community leaders.
- Advocating on behalf of our members on issues of public policy, through town halls, speaking at municipal council, and the Alberta and Canadian Chamber policy processes.
Marketing and Communications:
- Preparing regular communications, including newsletters and event communications.
- Collaborating with marketing partners to effectively communicate through local campaigns, communicate our position and brand, and drafting timely press releases.
Administration:
- Negotiating with vendors and logistics suppliers to ensure the Chamber’s needs are met and at reasonable value.
- Overseeing issuing of invoices, collections, and accounts payable.
What You Need to Succeed
We are looking for a candidate that demonstrates the following abilities and traits:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field
- Natural leadership aptitude, setting a tone of strong teamwork
- Ability to interpret and manage budgets and financial controls
- Excellent networking and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and decisively
- Aptitude for appropriately leveraging AI tools, such as ChatGPT
- An eye for process improvement opportunities coupled with an ability to execute change
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM systems
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed for events
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work, with a strong attention to detail
