The Opportunity
The Director, Technology Systems and Portfolio is a strategic thinker who can collaborate with Business and Technology Leadership teams to deliver on multi-year road maps to achieve corporate goals. The role of the Director is to manage the strategic & tactical planning and day-to-day operations of our Corporate and Enterprise systems with strategic alignment to our strategy and business plan through the delivery of technology services.

The role must achieve outcomes that significantly contribute to the department’s delivery of business value and support the corporation through its corporate strategic imperatives and initiatives. The Director will oversee an internal team and third-party partners to provide direction, vision, and overall accountability for their deliverables. The Director is expected to build and sustain a high performing team who demonstrate outstanding customer service and who provide quality work on a consistent basis.

This position will report to the Vice President of Technology and Innovation and will, in addition to their product and service accountabilities, be responsible for administering the broader departmental portfolio of projects and programs on behalf of the airport. The Director will work closely with the Technology and Innovation leadership team and will be responsible to deliver a business-driven strategy for the corporate and enterprise systems that support staff within the organization. This role will work closely with decision makers across the organization to identify, recommend, develop, implement, support, and improve technology solutions and services.

Key Accountabilities
Lead the planning, development, management, and support of our infrastructure modernization program providing a secure, reliable and robust backbone to support our internal teams, partners and stakeholders.
Lead the cyber security program to ensure measurable progress on resilience.
Own the asset management, service desk and end user computing services.
Oversee the program, project and portfolio reporting and administration functions for the department including ensuring that third party project management services comply with SDLC and PM practises.
Manage revenue services for the department which include providing in terminal and airport city customers with connectivity, telecom, and internet services, including the implementation of a revised strategy to improve the efficiency and value of these services.
Participate in the delivery and development of the long-term strategic plan for the department ensuring investments provide quantifiable benefits and value and enable the strategic goals of the organization.
Interface with all levels of management to develop and implement the vision of how technology can most effectively support the business. Ensure ongoing alignment between business goals and IT direction – both tactically and strategically.
Ensure technology programs and services meet the needs of airport staff while optimizing the services, processes, and solutions to improve service levels, efficiencies and to take advantage of technology trends.
Oversee process improvement, organizational change, and operational efficiencies through the delivery of services and solutions.
Manage programs and projects, evaluate needs, conduct cost and productivity analyses, and determine technology priorities to effectively and efficiently utilize the investment technology spend.
Evaluate the capabilities and potential benefits of new and current technologies. Determine opportunities and develop plans to ensure technology is a strategic enabler for achieving the authority’s goals and strategies.
Contribute to the development and adoption of the IT business continuity plans, IT security commitment, technology audits, and disaster recovery processes.
Maintain a strong knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure a commitment to innovation.
Develop and promote long term relationships with vendors, contractors, airlines, tenants, and business partners to effectively meet the ongoing demands of a growing airport.
Liaise with other airports, industry associations and regulators on related IT and airport management issues.
Lead, develop and mentor staff and third-party partners to develop our professional discipline, build bench-strength and succession potential.
Foster an attitude of positivity, creative thinking, teamwork, and problem solving that extends across all levels and functions in support of the YEG culture.
Create a culture of security awareness, ownership and accountability across the department and organization.
Provide outstanding customer service and take ownership of problems and issues within your area of accountability and across the department.

Special Requirements

Candidate Profile
Given the pivotal role this individual will be expected to play in achieving the strategic objectives of the company and in supporting the success of the organization, it is essential that the successful candidate possess the following core competencies, experience, and attributes:

Education:
Bachelor of Computer Science or equivalent degree with a Master’s degree preferred.

Experience:
15+ years progressive technology experience within a complex and demanding environment.
A minimum of 8 years’ experience at a managerial/leadership level.
Strong knowledge and proven track record leading Corporate Business Systems, Enterprise Systems, Cloud, Hybrid and On-Premise complex software environments. This experience should include ERP, HRMS, Intranet, Collaboration, Remote Access, MS 365 technologies.
Experience with leading and implementing Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) frameworks in a 24/7 operation.
Proven track record on overseeing program and portfolio functions including reporting on portfolio status at an executive level.
Proven track record with managing third parties (onshore and offshore) to deliver projects and operational services in a 24/7 environment.
Experience in managing a revenue generating service to customers and establishing profitability and service levels metrics to measure performance. Ideally in the telecom area.
Strong experience in developing long-term plans and strategies for a technology department. Also, demonstrated ability to execute on these plans and strategies successfully.
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead, motivate, develop, and collaborate with a high-functioning IT team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to synthesize complex technical concepts into plain language.
Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills with a proven ability to source and implement practical, scalable, and efficient business solutions.
Strong team player with the ability to conduct work with confidentiality and professionalism.
Background in public cloud architecture, operations, and management, including AWS and Azure.
Ability to assess and interpret detailed Architectural Designs and other relevant architectural artifacts.
Experience with leading an enterprise level technology PMO office including reporting and monitoring progress and supporting teams in overcoming obstacles.
Experience working in an enterprise with diverse organizations, teams, practices, and technologies.
Background and experience with the fundamental concepts relating to security architecture and security controls frameworks such as the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
Knowledge and experience implementing ITSM/ITIL principles or similar frameworks.
Proven ability to follow a formalized solution delivery lifecycle, including benefits realization.
Ability to manage competing demands, negotiate win-wins and have difficult conversations.
Strategic thinker with proven ability to develop IT strategic plans and goals and execute successfully based on business needs.
Successful track record of managing effective relationships stakeholder, customers, technology vendors and suppliers; and
