  • Have extensive experience in business analysis and problem-solving to transform complex business problems into secure and sustainable solutions.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Information Technology, the Director, Data and Analytics will lead a new data-focused discipline within the organization and will work closely with their direct report, Manager of Data Platforms, to bring our data strategy and vision and organization’s business plan to realization.

This role will be accountable for (but not limited to) the following:

  • Develop and communicate strategic plans for data and analytics initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, priorities, and business plan.
  • Lead the implementation and operation of data management technologies, prioritizing data integrity, security, and accessibility.
  • Drive organizational change towards a data-driven culture by promoting awareness and adoption of data and analytics capabilities.
  • Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, gaining buy-in for initiatives and fostering collaboration across departments.
  • Provide leadership to the data organization, overseeing governance, compliance, and continuous improvement efforts to optimize data practices and drive tangible business outcomes.

A successful candidate will have:

  • A post-secondary education from a recognized institution in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business Administration, or related program.
  • 10+ years of experience in progressively responsible roles within data management, analytics, corporate reporting, business intelligence, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership positions, with demonstrated leadership in areas such as data analysis, business intelligence, data engineering, or data governance.
  • A proven record of successfully leading and developing technical teams, managing complex projects, and delivering impactful business outcomes.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership to translate business needs into data strategies and initiatives.
  • A proficiency in modern data management principles (ex. Mesh, fabric), analytics methodologies, and relevant tools and technologies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Operate with a sense of urgency and speed.
  • Strategic planning and execution, creating roadmaps for improving data processes and platform operations.

Additional skills and experience that are considered assets:

  • Data related certification (ex. Certified Data Professional).
  • Proficient in using or delivering cloud services in an enterprise setting.
  • Combination of private and public sector experience is ideal.
  • Proficient in data visualization tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or similar.
