QM’s four business lines include Demolition and Decommissioning, Hazardous Materials Abatement, Environmental Remediation including Civil Earthworks, and Emergency Management & Environmental Response Services.


We have an exciting IMMEDIATE opportunity for a Project Coordinator - Demolition to join our team in Delta, BC and Edmonton, AB.

POSITION SUMMARY

Project Managers are responsible for executing projects that meet or exceed company financial targets, on time and within budget. Project Managers are also responsible for:

  1. Managing client relationships, ensuring projects meet or exceed key performance indicators, and business development in both identifying potential works and working with the estimating team throughout the bid process
  2. Overseeing on-site project resources, both human and capital, and
  3. Ensuring that projects meet or exceed QM’s Health and Safety Policies and Programs.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Execution

  1. Ensures projects are executed in accordance with client contract (including sub-contracts or contract changes), key performance indicators, QM financial targets, within budget and on-time
  2. Opening jobs (Project Billing Sheet) and obtaining contracts and purchase orders
  3. Billing procedures, requirements, etc.
  4. Ensures that field data, including approving time/hours for employees, is collected and maintained using the most recent version of the field pack
  5. Preconstruction submittals / permits
  6. Site documentation (Health and Safety Documentation / Field Packages)
  7. Project file management
  8. Ensure safety requirements are met
  9. Job kickoff with total project team – passing bid knowledge on
  10. Delegating work / engaging subcontractors
  11. Providing information for creation of accurate purchase orders and managing purchase order process
  12. Monitoring / guiding execution (budget, schedule, quality)
  13. Ensuring project budget is up to date in NAV (working with Project Administrator)
  14. Change order management
  15. Project official communications / documentation
  16. Chairing project meetings
  17. Ensuring / optimizing job profitability and financial performance
  18. Invoicing (with Project Administrator support)

Project Close-Out

  1. Collection of money
  2. Post construction submittals
  3. Project profile summary content provided to marketing
  4. Lessons learned / post mortem (both financial and technical)

Client Relationships and Business Development

  1. Working with stakeholders to identify suitable business opportunities and prospects
  2. Cultivating and managing business relationships, both new and existing
  3. Leading the bid review process, including:
  4. Responding to Request for Proposals, Request for Quotes, etc.
  5. Obtaining quotes and preparing cost estimates
  6. Reviewing contracts
  7. Evaluating bids, assessing risks, and presenting recommendations to leadership team
  8. Winning business

Health and Safety

  1. Is aware of and understands the application of all health and safety rules and regulations that apply, including QM’s Health and Safety Policies and Programs
  2. Ensures that all projects are executed in accordance with, and exceeding, all health and safety rules and regulations that apply, including QM’s Health and Safety Policies and Programs
  3. Other duties and responsibilities, as required

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND KEY COMPETENCIES

Experience

  1. Minimum 3 years’ experience in the Demolition industry
  2. Minimum 2 years’ experience in business development and interacting with clients
  3. In project management with at least 5 years with the direct responsibility for all resource allocation and management responsibilities and with the administration of prime contracts, subcontracts, and contract changes.
  4. In preparing construction estimates

Education, Certifications

Graduate from both a secondary and a post-secondary institution preferred

Abilities

  1. To understand contracts; communicate project risks effectively with clients and stakeholders and to negotiate contract changes
  2. To work effectively with various computer software applications such as spreadsheets (Microsoft Excel or similar), project management and scheduling (Microsoft Project or similar), financial accounting (Explorer Contract Manager or similar);

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is primarily in an office environment but requires frequent travel to work sites, to monitor the progress of work and to meet with Site Superintendents and/or clients.
