Position: Permanent Part Time Early Childhood Educator/Food Runner

Location: St. Michael Child Care, Bright's Grove (daily travel to/from JMFC YMCA, Finch Dr., Sarnia)

Start Date: As soon as possible

Compensation:

  • Members of the College of Early Childhood Educators, Ontario - up to $23.86 per hour (includes government wage enhancements)
  • Starting rates are dependent on region, qualifications, and contract
  • Non-Members-$19.00 per hour (includes government wage enhancements)
  • Members/Non-Members - $17.50 per hour (includes shift premium of $0.50 added per hour)

As part of your total compensation:

  • Receive a complimentary YMCA personal membership to our Health & Fitness facilities, and discounts on YMCA child care and camp programs
  • Access vacation and personal day entitlement in accordance with the employment standards regulations.
  • After the completion of 10 consecutive months of 25 hours per week, Benefits/Pension package and additional paid personal days will be offered.

Travel component for daily food pick-up and drop-off responsibilities will include paid mileage for travel between sites.

Schedule

  • 6.5 hour workday, (5 hours as an Educator, 1.5 Hours Program Support/Food Runner)
  • General work day will be approximately 10:45 am until 5:15 pm Monday through Friday.

In this blended role, you will:

  • Plan and deliver a consistent child-centered program, in accordance with our YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum (0-6 year olds)
  • Provide quality compassionate care and support to children and their families
  • Ensure supervision and safety of children at all times; Understand and comply with provincial (CCEYA), municipal and YMCA policies and procedures
  • Be committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
  • Embrace and exemplify the Y’s core values
  • Provide daily pick-up of lunch/snacks at main site (JMFC YMCA Finch Dr.) with delivery to another site (St Michael, Brights Grove)
  • Provide daily drop off of food bin/dishes back at main site (JMFC YMCA, Finch Dr.)

Education & Skills Qualifications:

  • Valid Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification or include the date of training scheduled within the next three months. Training cost and time is at the expense of the applicant and not reimbursed
  • Applicants are required to be a minimum of 18 years of age or older to obtain a current Vulnerable Criminal Reference Check (less than 6 months old)
  • Up-to-date immunizations required by Public Health, Ministry of Education and YMCASWO
  • Ability to use frequent light to medium physical effort: lifting to 20 kg (44 lbs.), bending, and stooping
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

In Addition:

  • An Early Childhood Educator Diploma, or diploma or degree in a related field of study
  • Early Childhood Education graduates must be registered (or proof that registration is in process) and in good standing in the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Graduates in a related field of study must be members of their associations as required
  • Valid G Driver's license and proof of insurance
  • Food Handler's certificate
