Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Fund Accounting Analyst to join our dynamic Fund Operations team to support our rapid growth in the Canadian and Global ETF markets. This is an opportunity to join one of Canada’s most innovative ETF providers. The successful candidate will oversee administrative responsibilities for 100+ ETF products managed by Global X Investments Canada Inc. This position will report to the AVP, Fund Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:


Fund Oversight:

  • Provide oversight in cash and position reconciliation.
  • Prepare and assist with monthly expense internal and external reporting.
  • Diagnose issues related to fund valuation and fund reporting.
  • Support in the implementation of complex transactions, product launches, closures and other initiatives.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.


Financial Reporting:

  • Support in the preparation and production of the interim and annual financial statements, and management reports of fund performance (MRFP).
  • Review financial statement working papers from an external provider.
  • Prepare and review calculations for notes to the financial statement and MRFPs.
  • Coordinate annual fund audit requests.
  • Support in prospectus renewals.


Fund distribution and tax reporting:

  • Prepare and review monthly and annual tax distribution calculations.
  • Coordinate the year-end distribution process and work closely with the fund accounting team and the fund administrator.
  • Review annual tax returns for investment funds, including trusts, and mutual fund corporations ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
  • Oversee HST and selected listed financial institution (SLFI) related matters, including calculation of attribution rates and review of HST returns, to ensure compliance with tax regulations and optimize tax efficiency for the investment funds.
  • Prepare and maintain Canadian and global tax documentation for market openings and dividend reclaims across international markets.
  • Research and keep abreast of regulatory reporting and tax developments which would impact the investment fund industry and support the implementation of changes in procedures and workflows.


Requirements:

  • University degree in a relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and a minimum of 2-3 years of related work experience
  • MS Office proficiency with advanced Excel skills as Excel usage will be a major component of the role
  • Programming proficiency in VBA and Python experience is an asset.
  • Good working knowledge of ETFs and accounting principles
  • Organized, analytical, action-oriented individual with strong project-planning skills
  • Ability to process and apply new skills and concepts quickly
  • Able to work with precision and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong technical and analytical skills; experience within ETF operations preferred
  • Knowledge of Canadian taxation, IFRS and the mutual fund industry is an asset
