We are seeking a Finance Officer - Regulatory Project Lead (Temporary), a strategic thinker who can take initiatives from concept to completion and engineer the way to a smart energy future.

JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Officer - Regulatory Project Lead plays a pivotal role in the development, preparation, and submission of the Director, Finance portions of the rate application. This involves comprehensive project management, thorough research, persuasive writing and editing, and active participation in regulatory proceedings. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Finance team and other stakeholders to ensure a high-quality, well-supported submission that aligns with company objectives and the rate application strategy.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop and execute a detailed project plan for the Director, Finance sections of the rate application.
  2. Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, fostering clear communication and collaboration.
  3. Monitor project progress, proactively identify risks and issues, and implement effective mitigation strategies.
  4. Ensure timely completion of all project deliverables, adhering to regulatory deadlines.
  5. Conduct in-depth research and analysis on regulatory requirements, industry trends, peer filings, and other relevant data.
  6. Prepare comprehensive reports and summaries of research findings for the team.
  7. Review evidence and supporting documents and provide feedback.
  8. Write clear, concise, and persuasive sections of the rate application evidence, focusing on the Director, Finance areas.
  9. Gather and synthesize information from the broader team to support the application.
  10. Edit and proofread all documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, adherence to the OEB filing requirements and professional quality.
  11. Collaborate with team members to ensure a cohesive and integrated final submission.
  12. Prepare responses to interrogatories, technical conference undertakings, and other requests for information.
  13. Project manage the interrogatory stage for the Director, Finance portions.
  14. Assist in the preparation for and participation in technical conferences and oral hearings (e.g., preparing materials for witnesses), may require travel.
  15. Support all stages of the rate application and implementation of OEB decision as it relates to the Finance group.
  16. Work closely with the Finance team, regulatory experts, and other stakeholders to gather information and ensure alignment with overall company objectives and rate application strategy.
  17. Perform other duties as required during non-active phases of the application process.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related discipline; CPA considered an asset.
  2. Minimum three (3) years experience in regulatory affairs, project management, law, or accounting and financial analysis.
  3. Exceptional technical writing skills, particularly in legal and regulatory documents.
  4. Experience in the energy or utility sector considered an asset.
  5. Strong computer skills; proficient in office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably Google Workspace and AODocs preferred.

This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
