About the opportunity:

In conjunction with site leadership, the Training Supervisor is responsible for developing and delivering an employee training plan for all hourly employees, using both internal and external training resources. Training includes compliance, technical and HR related programs.


The attributes we are looking for:

  • Collaborating with all departments, a training plan will be developed to consistently assess current practices, gaps, and strategy of where to improve.
  • This also encompasses re-evaluation and development of current documents, programs, and functionality of training in place.
  • All training and development will align with the overall strategic planning of the business at a local level, and at a national level.
  • All training will be comprehensive, from standard operating procedures (SOP’s) to quality and industry regulations and standards. A deep understanding of how this applies in a food manufacturing facility is required to support best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • This role is responsible for the planning, organizing and coordinating of training programs for new and existing employees ranging from SOPs, safety protocols, equipment operation, quality control procedures, culture and best practices.
  • Understanding the different training needs of stakeholders and AODA requirements, while utilizing this experience and knowledge to conduct training sessions using a variety of methods, including classroom instruction, hands-on demonstrations, and e-learning modules.
  • Monitor and assess retention, application, competency, and implementation of the training plan.
  • Maintain and improve current training records which fall under the role’s scope of responsibilities and duties.
  • Generate reports and analyze training data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and or build training materials, manuals, and visual aids to support effective learning outcomes.
  • Lead training exercises and provide expertise on best practices.
  • Be audit ready, including regulatory requirements (CFIA, OHSA, HRTO, ESA, HACCP) and standards.


What you will bring:

  • University Degree or College Diploma focusing on Human Resources Management/Training, Adult Education or Instructional Training (or related professional certification)
  • Proven experience with a minimum of 5 years as a training specialist and coordinator or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, quality assurance practices, and safe manufacturing processes.
  • Project Management experience is an asset.
  • Prior training development addressing different learning styles and needs of recipients.
  • Strategic planning and assessment abilities while applying critical thinking to deliver culture changing initiatives working cross functionally with other departments.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations and standards (CFIA, OHSA, HACCP, ETC)
  • A strong understanding of instructional design principles and adult learning theories, with development and design practices that are compliant with AODA.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, to effectively convey training materials and instruction.
  • Strong presentation skills for conducting training sessions.
  • Attention to detail and project development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams to develop best in class training which encompasses best practices, and support the needs identified within a gap analysis.
  • Adaptability to adjust training methods based on the audiences learning styles and needs.
  • Problem solving, critical thinking, and flexible strategic thinking to address training challenges, and stakeholder implementation and comprehension.
  • Time management
