We are seeking a talented Municipal Engineering Specialist to join our team in the Toronto office. As a key member of our Municipal team, you will be responsible for providing project engineering and technical expertise, analysis and design services on municipal linear projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing project engineering and technical expertise, analysis and design services on municipal linear projects
  • Responsible for carrying out preliminary and detailed designs
  • Preparing cost estimates, specifications and contract documents
  • Tendering and supporting contract administration staff
  • Coordinating studies and assessments
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, regulatory agencies and utility companies and contractors
  • Working closely with engineers, designers, drafting and support staff
  • Collaborating with staff among all levels of the company and other stakeholders to meet deliverables on multiple projects at any given time
  • Participating in the training, development and mentoring of junior staff
  • Other duties as assigned that are relevant to the position
  • Participating in Business Development initiatives

Requirements:

  • Must hold an active P. Eng designation with the ability to practice in the province of Ontario
  • 5-10 years' experience in conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of road, linear water main and sewer projects is essential
  • Must be proficient in municipal design engineering and managing projects for large municipal agencies
  • Must possess practical knowledge of construction sequencing and constructability
  • Experience working in AutoCAD and Microstation
  • Familiar with local design and construction standards
  • Understanding of requirements for obtaining permits and approvals
  • Experience with municipal and provincial road design guidelines
  • Proven, advanced level Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrates superior English communication and presentation skills both oral and written
  • Must possess a strong ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with staff and clients
  • Aptitude for meeting timelines and budgets, and other skills appropriate to consulting
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative, team environment
