Job Summary
In this Global Director role, you will be accountable to ensure that RBC has a global framework for efficient and timely project delivery that supports RBC business unit objectives and mitigates operational and financial risks in an outsourced, regional delivery model. You will provide oversight of RBC’s multiple project vendors (project delivery and design) and sourcing and reporting as well as a point of vendor performance escalation. Additionally, ensuring project vendors are aligned with RBC objectives and compliant with RBC policies, regulations, and laws.


What is the opportunity?
The Director, CRE Global Project Delivery will be accountable to ensure that RBC has a global framework for efficient and timely project delivery that supports RBC business unit objectives and mitigates operational and financial risks in an outsourced, regional delivery model.


What will you do?

  1. Define and implement a consistent delivery strategy and framework (e.g., supplier strategy, construction approach, internal vs external management and other elements essential to project delivery) to support a Regional Delivery model.
  2. Establish quantitative standards of performance, management reporting, metrics and key information to be used by Regional Delivery team.
  3. Accountable for ensuring a consistent project delivery process globally by working with regional leaders who oversee implementation.
  4. Implement the controls and program management framework aligned to RBC's Project Management Office guidelines and aligned to enterprise delegation of authority.
  5. Accountable to ensure the deployment of leading industry practices related to project delivery, including leaning of project delivery processes, value engineering, and innovative project delivery methodologies to decrease cost and increase speed of delivery.
  6. Primary subject matter expert for Construction Sourcing strategy - collaborate with Procurement to strategically source goods and services and establish MSAs as needed.
  7. Responsible for overall supplier performance & advice on approach to delivery of CRE projects - e.g., global, local, program approach with the following suppliers: Design, Construction, Quantity Surveying, Equipment, Services (e.g., Furniture, Architects etc).

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  1. 5+ years of experience in corporate real estate with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity developing and leading teams.
  2. University Degree or equivalent experience; Lean/Six Sigma experience or certification.
  3. 10+ years of real estate project management experience with at least 3 years in a senior capacity and experience with global project portfolios.
  4. Proven leader with experience in building, developing and leading a small team of subject matter experts who support the Regional Delivery model.
  5. Proven knowledge of all aspects of real estate projects including cost estimating, scheduling, construction contracts, value engineering, procurement methods and capital planning.
  6. Well-developed communication and presentation skills including executive interaction and communications.
  7. Ability to work in a matrix organization with global functions (centres of excellence) and regional teams.

Nice-to-have

  1. Proven knowledge of all aspects of project management processes including estimating, tendering, scheduling, interpreting design drawings, construction practices, value engineering, alternative procurement methods.
  2. Building partnerships with business and functional unit clients.
