Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Engineering Safety and Environment, the Environmental Specialist will be responsible for coordinating, leading, implementing, and supporting environmental compliance and permitting focusing on compliance activities. This specialist will interface with all levels of company employees and will develop and implement plans and processes that meet critical programs across company operations, particularly environmental, compliance, and business objectives.


Key Responsibilities:


· A genuine interest in and understanding of environmental issues, relevant legislation and renewable energy sources;

· The ability to take the lead on projects;

· Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work;

· Assist in the management of the environmental affairs of the facility;

· Evaluate processes/procedures to manage environmental issues and incorporates strong operational controls and environmental roles and responsibilities into existing facilities. Advise in setting objectives/targets for managing environmental issues;

· Other duties as required.


Qualifications:


· Post-secondary education or an acceptable combination of training and experience;

· 4 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment;

· Energetic, career minded professional, a focus on solutions and a commitment to outstanding performance;

· Strong problem solving, decision making and leadership skills;

· Strong computer literacy & computer skills including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook;

· Quick learner with ability to work in a fast paced & changing environment;

· Well-developed communication skills including listening, summarizing, probing, clarifying;

· Proven ability to interact effectively with a diverse group and within a team environment;

· Proven ability to deliver to specific deadlines.
