Overview:

TransPerfect Montreal is currently looking for Linguists with different levels of expertise (mid-level or senior) in the Retail industry for English into French-Canadian work. You will be responsible for translating and proofreading documents pertaining to a variety of clients or to a specific VIP client that caters to various brands. Your particular expertise will also allow you do similar linguistic work on projects for a variety of creative services (e.g. transcreation, copy adaptation, inclusive adaptation, blind editing, etc.) supported by the TransPerfect Linguist Certification (TLC) program.


Description:

  • Translate and/or proofread high visibility content in the Retail and Marketing sector: product descriptions, product marketing campaigns, consumer information, shipping and packaging labels, retail assembly instructions, displays and posters, regulatory procedures and compliance, ingredient lists, nutritional values.
  • Review packaging or shipping labels directly on client-owned platforms using client’s specifications to present feedback. Communicate directly with clients to ask questions or respond to linguistic queries.
  • Create translations that are tailored for the French Canadian market using idiomatic expressions.
  • Engage in developing creative content by using various translation adaptation techniques.
  • Be a brand owner by becoming an extension of a client’s brand within TransPerfect and by maintaining brand consistency across multiple projects.
  • Maintain and use translation memories and glossaries.
  • Juggle multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Keep Project Managers informed of project progress and meet client and internal deadlines.
  • Complete administrative tasks in a timely fashion, in support of your work and of the company’s KPIs.
  • Be occasionally involved in providing feedback to and training for new team members and vendors.
  • Occasionally represent the Linguistic Department by taking part in client-facing calls to gain a better understanding of client preferences, update style guides, glossaries, instructions and reference material and address issues as they arise.
  • Make recommendations to your manager on ways to improve any processes as part of TransPerfect Montreal’s commitment to continual improvement.


Required Skills:

  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication skills and cultural knowledge of source and target languages (English and French for Canada).
  • Acute attention to detail, spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to develop creative translations for taglines and high visibility texts that may not normally translate well into another language.
  • Strong ability to stay organized and focused on tasks.
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and being comfortable working with various technologies and interfaces.
  • Ability to support multiple projects and manage shifting priorities while keeping accurate track-record of time allotted to each.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism in all situations, especially under tight deadlines.
  • Positive attitude in the face of change, client-centered mindset and pro-active approach to problem avoidance and resolution.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree, Translation Certificate, or their equivalent.
  • Native fluency in Canadian French and near-native fluency in English.
  • Experience translating and proofreading documents from the Retail industry.
  • Solid experience with MS Office, Adobe software (i.e. PDF mark-ups), and CAT tools; experience with other document sharing platforms is considered an asset.

Présentation générale

Le bureau de TransPerfect basé à Montréal est à la recherche de traducteurs-réviseurs de l’anglais au français de différents niveaux d’expérience (intermédiaire ou principal) dans le domaine du commerce de détail. Vous serez responsable de traduire et de réviser des documents appartenant à divers clients ou à un seul client très important qui possède de nombreuses marques. Votre expertise particulière vous permettra également d’accomplir des tâches semblables dans le cadre de projets créatifs variés (p. ex. : transcréation, adaptation publicitaire, adaptation inclusive, révision à l’aveugle, etc.), et sera soutenue grâce au programme de certification linguistique de TransPerfect. TransPerfect offre la possibilité de travailler en mode hybride à partir du bureau situé au centre-ville de Montréal ou de faire du télétravail selon l’emplacement.


Description du poste

  • Traduire et réviser du contenu à haute visibilité dans le domaine du commerce de détail. Cela peut inclure : des descriptions de produits, des campagnes de commercialisation de produits, des fiches de renseignements destinées aux consommateurs, des étiquettes d’expédition et d’emballage, des instructions d’assemblage pour les détaillants, des présentoirs et des affiches, des procédures réglementaires et de conformité, des listes d’ingrédients et des valeurs nutritives.
  • Réviser des étiquettes d’emballage ou d’expédition directement sur les plateformes des clients en présentant la rétroaction selon leurs précisions. Communiquer directement avec les clients pour leur poser des questions ou répondre à leurs demandes linguistiques.
  • Fournir des traductions adaptées au marché canadien-français en ayant recours entre autres à des expressions idiomatiques.
  • Participer à l’élaboration de contenu créatif en utilisant diverses techniques d’adaptation en traduction.
  • Être un propriétaire de marque en devenant une extension de la marque du client au sein de TransPerfect et en maintenant la cohérence de la marque dans tous les projets.
  • Utiliser et mettre à jour les mémoires de traduction et les glossaires.
  • Composer avec de multiples projets et priorités dans un environnement dynamique.
  • Tenir les gestionnaires de projet au courant de l’évolution de chaque projet et respecter les délais internes et des clients.
  • Réaliser des tâches administratives en temps opportun à l’appui de votre travail et des indicateurs de rendement clé de la société.
  • Participer, à l’occasion, à la formation de nouveaux membres de l’équipe et de pigistes, et leur fournir de la rétroaction, au besoin.
  • Représenter, à l’occasion, le Service langagier lors de communications avec un client pour mieux comprendre ses préférences, mettre à jour ses guides stylistiques, ses glossaires, ses instructions et ses documents de référence, et régler les problèmes à mesure qu’ils se posent.
  • Faire des recommandations à votre supérieur sur des façons d’améliorer tout processus dans le cadre de l’engagement du bureau montréalais de TransPerfect à l’égard de l’amélioration continue.

Expérience et aptitudes requises

  • Posséder au moins un baccalauréat ou un certificat en traduction ou l’équivalent.
  • Maîtriser parfaitement le français canadien et pratiquer couramment l’anglais.
  • Avoir de l’expérience dans la traduction et la révision de documents liés au domaine du commerce de détail.
  • Avoir une excellente maîtrise des logiciels de la suite MS Office et d’Adobe (c.-à-d., pour le balisage de documents PDF), et des outils de traduction assistée par ordinateur. Avoir de l’expérience avec d’autres plateformes de partage de documents est considérée un atout.

· Posséder le nombre adéquat d’années d’expérience en fonction du niveau du poste : intermédiaire (de 2 à 4 ans) ou principal (5 ans et plus).
