POSITION TITLE: Weld Lead Hand

SHIFT: Afternoon Shift

LOCATION: Barrie, Ontario

MacLean Engineering is looking for a Weld Lead Hand to lead our weld team on the afternoon shift within our Barrie Ontario facility. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing team, leading the supply of aftermarket parts for heavy mobile mining equipment to various customers internationally, and to our other Ontario manufacturing plants. Responsibilities:
  • Ensure department priorities are met including safety, quality, production/delivery and other metrics as specified by Plant Manager.
  • Provide documented input to the Production Supervisor regarding peers’ levels of competence, performance and potential.
  • Ensure a safe working environment is provided in all areas of MEMCO through adherence to policies and processes, leading by example, formally identifying unsafe conditions and assisting the Production Supervisor with taking action toward permanent corrective measures.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are in safe operating condition.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor with troubleshooting within cross-functional groups (i.e. engineering, materials management, quality) as required.
  • Ensure peers adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Support the Production Supervisor with 5S, Lean Manufacturing and organizational initiatives and report on status and success of individuals and programs.
About You:

The successful candidate(s) must be able to lead a team, willing to learn, open-minded and flexible, organized and detail-oriented, team-oriented, disciplined, and must have a positive attitude, along with any one of the following qualifications:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion.
  • Diploma or Degree in related discipline preferred.
  • Associated trade certification preferred.
  • Five (5) + years’ experience working as Welder within a metal fabrication or similar manufacturing environment.
  • One to Two (1-2) years Leadership experience.
  • Previous experience promoting a safe work culture, communicating goals, and engaging and motivating individuals is an asset.
