Amazon Canada is seeking a talented, highly motivated and experienced bilingual English and French speaking Business Development Manager to be part of our Canadian Creator Business. The role is based in Toronto, and works out of our downtown Toronto Tech Hub 3 days a week.


The Amazon Canada Creators Business Development Team collaborates with a large number of Canadian content creators including websites, publishers, and Influencers. These Creators create original content to help customers make informed purchase decisions on Amazon. Our Creators business is an integral part of the Amazon marketing mix, bringing new customers to the site, driving existing customers to discover new products or programs including the many benefits of Amazon Prime. With its global network of over 1MM publishers and influencers, the Creators program is a leader in online marketing and one of the largest paid marketing channels for Amazon.


As a customer obsessed, digital media enthusiast, you will influence and build upon the success we have had with top Canadian Publishers and Influencers. Using your deep knowledge of the market and digital media landscape, and with a solution-oriented mindset, you will identify and develop new business relationships and opportunities for Amazon and collaborate with and influence our category, deal and product teams to develop innovative programs which help unlock new opportunities for Amazon and our Creators.


You are an excellent oral and written communicator in both English and French, and you possess an analytical approach to business development, leveraging data to drive decisions. You are knowledgeable of different Canadian regions.


You are highly organized and have the ability to work closely and constructively with multiple internal and external stakeholders. You are particularly adept at developing strong, one-to-one relationships with media executives. You have experience navigating technical and product requirements and adoption and have the ability to influence technical leaders and incorporate technical requirements into negotiations and contracts.


You excel at developing relationships – both internal and external. This role will work closely with many of Amazon’s strategic businesses to structure innovative and impactful deals.


Key job responsibilities
  1. Manage a region within the Amazon Canadian Creator business
  2. Provide thought leadership, and educate various internal stakeholders on customer trends and investment opportunities for growth
  3. Own KPIs, Business Review inputs, and Creator P&L for specific markets
  4. Own annual Creator revenue growth objectives for specific markets
  5. Define, identify, approach and onboard to Amazon top strategic digital publishers, influencers and commerce content creators
  6. Grow and scale existing Creators partnerships
  7. Drive special deal terms and negotiations with publishers and influencers to optimize growth
  8. Drive adoption of products for publishers and influencers, including tools to implement effective integrations (links, display units, etc.), reporting tools, product feeds etc.
  9. Work closely with leadership and product teams to inform product roadmap and provide feedback on product requirements
  10. Partner with Marketing and Retail category leaders to support strategic Amazon businesses

To excel in this role, you will:

  1. Have strong knowledge of the market, key media players and top influencers
  2. Be willing to “roll up your sleeves” and operate with limited guidance
  3. Bring analytical horsepower and a deep curiosity about how things work
  4. Be commercially savvy and have excellent business judgment
  5. Have strong interpersonal skills and be able to influence both internal and external stakeholders, both technical and non-technical

Minimum Requirements
  1. Fluent in English and French
  2. Familiarity with the Publisher and Influencer space
  3. 6+ years in Business Development, Partnership or B2B customer-facing roles
  4. 6+ years in Online Marketing, Ecommerce, Digital Publishing or Content Marketing roles
  5. Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements
  6. Expert at identifying and executing successful partnership deals and large-scale marketing deals
  7. Highly analytical and data driven with a bias towards data-based decision making
  8. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and French are a must. Frequent documentation for leadership updates expected.
  9. Highly proficient in Excel
  10. Bachelor's degree required

Preferred Qualifications
  1. Knowledge of and passion for brand strategy and digital preferred
  2. Experience working with affiliate marketing with Canadian media/content publishers
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and resourceful in achieving success in the face of ambiguity while prioritizing and managing multiple responsibilities
  4. MBA preferred
