The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking an Environmental Field Technician or Technologist to join our team based in Saskatoon or Regina. The successful candidate will join our growing Contaminated Sites team serving our diverse government, commercial and industrial clients.

What you can expect to do here:
  1. Preparing and adhering to site-specific health and safety plans to mitigate or eliminate risks to you, WSP's clients, employees, and the public.
  2. Identifying and reporting potential and existing site hazards, near loss incidents, and loss incidents.
  3. Maintaining excellent field notes and collecting and handling soil and groundwater samples.
  4. Carrying out fieldwork (i.e. groundwater monitoring, K-test data collection and analysis, soils sampling through test pit excavations or borehole drilling, subcontractor supervision, drilling investigations, and soil vapour investigations etc.) or office assignments under the direction of more experienced scientists and technical employees.
  5. Supervising subcontractors for ground disturbance and utility location, surveying, borehole drilling, groundwater monitoring well installation, and test pit excavation.
  6. Overseeing remedial contractors including directing remedial excavations, waste tracking and progress reporting.
  7. Preparing and coordinating project documentation, subcontractors, and equipment for field programs.
  8. Filing and managing all project-related field notes including some data entry and assistance with report preparation.
  9. Performing and recording work tasks as requested efficiently and accurately while adhering to current industry standards and regulatory requirements.

You will always ensure health and safety policies are followed at all sites and take WSP's Life-Saving rules to heart.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  1. Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in environmental, hydrogeology, or other related sciences.
  2. 2-5 years of applicable experience.
  3. You train junior staff in environmental practices including Phase I and II ESAs, drilling, surveying, groundwater sampling, oversight of remediation etc.
  4. A positive and enthusiastic attitude, willingness to learn and the ability to work with little supervision.
  5. Strong awareness of health and safety issues and a safety conscious attitude.
  6. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with particular attention to detail and accuracy of field notes.
  7. A valid driver's license.
