DMC is currently looking for an Recruiter in Sudbury, ON. The Recruiter will be responsible for the recruitment and hiring of mining, skilled trade, and operational positions for mining sites, projects, and offices. The recruiter will oversee Sudbury Basin recruitment as well as recruitment into other provinces and territories in Canada. The Recruiter will work with the operations team to understand their workforce planning, recruitment, and onboarding needs. Occasional site visits and travel outside the province may be required.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with hiring managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s hiring needs for each position and meet competitive hiring goals and expectations.
- Work with project managers and HR business partners to develop and implement resourcing strategies to meet project ramp-up plans within schedule and budget, while maintaining organizational charts.
- Drive resourcing initiatives through the use of direct recruitment, social media strategies, referrals, networking events, local schools, tradeshows, and other local recruitment efforts.
- Perform full cycle recruitment activities including resume qualifying, pre-screening, candidate interviews (behavioural and technical), pipeline development, interviews, reference checks, and offer presentation.
- Recruit for key personnel on new projects in new jurisdictions, including local and assisting with expat hires.
- Develop and report on relevant recruitment metrics that support the business.
- Maintain strong relationships with interested and qualified candidates to ensure a strong pipeline of resources. Maintain a database of candidate records, including active and passive prospects.
- Meet and surpass recruitment metrics to guarantee successful coverage of all open positions.
- Accountable for preparing offer documents, pre-employment medicals, and background check requests.
- Ensure accuracy on all new hire forms, including benefits, RRSP, tax forms, etc.
- Manage service agreements with recruitment agencies and recruitment platforms/tools.
- Update and maintain a database of standard job descriptions and job postings.
- Escalate appropriately, issues of risk related to background checks for review and decision.
- 5+ years’ experience in high volume recruitment – agency experience is an asset.
- 5+ years’ experience in contract mining environment, or in a supervisory position, is an asset.
- Experience filling positions in the construction, mining and/or engineering industries is essential.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, database management, and internet search.
- Familiarity with job boards, and HR software, databases, and management systems.
- Proven experience conducting various types of interviews (i.e., phone, video, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in human resource management (or related discipline).
- Experience developing recruitment strategy.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
