Your Opportunity

We are looking for an Environmental Planner with at least 5 years of experience. You will be a member of Dillon’s national Environmental Planning group and will work closely with our in-house teams of engagement specialists, biologists, environmental scientists, land use and policy planners, and the full range of engineering disciplines located in offices across Canada. You will be a key part of our multi-disciplinary group serving our diverse range of private and public sector clients.

The successful candidate can be based at any one of our offices: Chatham, Guelph, Hamilton, Kingston, Kitchener, London, Oakville, Ottawa, Downtown Toronto, North York, Vaughan, or Windsor. Responsibilities

As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to:

Project Delivery

  1. Manage/lead projects for private and public sector clients related to Environmental Assessment (EA), environmental permitting and approvals, environmental management and environmental compliance monitoring.
  2. Author EA reporting, including Environmental Study Reports, Transportation Environmental Study Reports, Environmental Study Reports, and Environmental Project Reports, and other environmental documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.
  3. Evaluate alternative solutions to deliver projects and develop mitigation to avoid/offset negative environmental impacts.
  4. Develop and lead innovative public and agency engagement programs.
  5. Work with multi-disciplinary teams on exciting and challenging projects.

Business Development

  1. Build client relationships through the identification of market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities.

Learning & Development

  1. Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development.
  2. Provide input to the career development of less-experienced staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.
  3. Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees.

Qualifications

  1. A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology, or a related field.
  2. 5+ years’ experience, preferably in the consulting industry.

Experience

Ideally, your experience can demonstrate the following:

  1. Successful project delivery as an Environmental Planner, Project Manager, or Environmental Lead.
  2. Experience managing and delivering Class Environmental Assessments on behalf of municipalities or provincial agencies, such as MTO.
  3. In-depth knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial, and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements.
  4. Experience in the design and delivery of stakeholder and Indigenous Community engagement programs.
  5. Experience in business development activities including client development and responding to Request for Proposals.
  6. Environmental management during construction, including developing environmental management plans, on-site monitoring, and documentation.
  7. Professional designations such as Registered Professional Planner (RPP) or Project Management Professional (PMP) are considered to be an asset.
