We’re looking for a Producer,News Radio for WBFO

Whatyou’ll be doing:

The Producer is responsiblefor producing WBFO’s daily radio show(s), hosting, supporting our reportingpillars, and producing content for the station’s daily programming, including What’s Next?. This individual is also responsible for coordinating and managing allaspects of assigned productions, including research, writing, budgeting,development of production schedule, field and studio production, post-productionand delivery. This individual works with the Managing Editor/Executive Producerto initiate and develop new production projects for WBFO’s on-air and digitalplatforms including television and radio broadcast, podcast, online streamingand digital social media channels. This position canbe hybrid – a blend of remote and in-office work .In summary, this individual will:

  • Serve as producer and occasional host of What’s Next?and other daily shows; be responsible for the full production cycle of assignedshows
  • Direct and delegate tasks accordingly to respective staff
  • Coordinate the daily aspects of What’s Next? includingrundowns, scripts, guest lineups, pre- and post-production, etc.
  • Evaluate and book guests for What’s Next? and otherdaily shows and special programming, as assigned
  • Coordinate and execute on-location producing, as needed
  • Perform board operation, ensure timely and uninterruptedbroadcasts, edit and produce useable audio for various platforms, etc.
  • Cultivate sources, investigate and conductresearch; appropriately interview individuals and subject matter experts for broadcast
  • Develop and maintain diverse community partnerships; identifyopportunities to work with underserved communities; conduct outreachaccordingly

Whatyou’ll need:

  • Minimum of Bachelor degree injournalism, broadcasting, media, related field (preferred) or comparable four(4) years of experience
  • Minimum of three(3) years of experience as a Line Producer working on a variety of digital anddaily broadcast projects
  • Demonstrated experience in producing bothlong-form and short-form content for digital and broadcast platforms
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computer programsincluding Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite, including proficiencywith Adobe Audition
  • Demonstrated ability of successfully buildingrelationships and key partnerships in production sectors
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills withhigh-level of presentation ability; confident and comfortable withpublic-speaking
  • Must bewell-organized, creative, have exceptional attention to detail and capable of workingindependently
  • Mustdemonstrate solid news judgement; familiarity with FCC regulations andstandards
  • Exceptional project and time management skillswith the ability to manage concurrent projects specifically in a fluid,unpredictable news room environment
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and continuallyshows initiative
  • Technicalability and skills to operate production equipment
  • Creative thinker with strong timemanagement and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in maintaining high journalisticstandards including objectivity, balance and fairness

Salaryand Benefits:

This is a full-time, non-exempthourly position and starting pay will be based on education, experience andinterview. Starting range: $48k - $60K.
