Senior Technical Business Analyst to support the implementation of a Student Information System

Our client is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst to support the implementation of a Student Information System (SIS) across multiple educational institutions.


Must Have:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst in large-scale software implementations.
  • 5+ years of experience in data migration, specifically in legacy system transitions.
  • Strong experience with Power BI, including building and enhancing reports.
  • Proven experience in requirements gathering, process mapping, and business process reengineering.
  • Experience in developing test plans and leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) processes.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience working within the education or public sector.
  • Familiarity with the Thesis Elements Student Information System or similar platforms.
  • Previous involvement in projects with multiple stakeholders and cross-institutional collaboration.
  • Experience with Government of Saskatchewan IT systems or similar public sector systems.


Description: The Senior Technical Business Analyst will work closely with the client’s project management team and third-party vendors to implement a new Student Information System (SIS) across multiple colleges and institutes. This role will be instrumental in ensuring the successful transition from the existing One Client Service Model (OCSM) to the Thesis Elements platform. The position requires extensive collaboration with various stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure seamless implementation, data migration, testing, and post-go-live support.


Responsibilities:

  • Participate in project team meetings, vendor workshops, and steering committee meetings.
  • Elicit and validate business requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Document current and future business processes, workflows, and business rules.
  • Develop and oversee the testing strategy, including functional, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Lead the creation and execution of a data migration strategy from the legacy OCSM system.
  • Collaborate with the vendor and ministry IT departments on data analysis and Power BI reporting.
  • Provide ongoing client support and technical recommendations, ensuring alignment with business needs.
  • Advocate for custom solutions and enhancements based on client requirements.
  • Ensure the SIS configuration aligns with collective business rules across institutions.
  • Facilitate data standardization efforts, including naming conventions and business process consistency.
  • Assist with technical documentation and user training materials for the post-go-live environment.
