Make a Difference Within Our Community

Currently, the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (MSIFN) is looking for an experienced Senior Information Technology Technician to join our community in Scugog, ON on a full-time basis. The hours are Monday to Thursday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, and Friday 8:30 am to 1:00 pm.

The Senior IT Technician’s role is to support, maintain, and secure all computer systems, applications, hardware, software, and information owned by MSIFN under the supervision of the Information Systems Manager. Responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance.

Duties

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Maintain essential IT operations, including operating systems, security tools, network components, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, mobile devices, software and hardware.
  • Ensure security and integrity of data by monitoring computer networks for threats.
  • Track and maintain hardware and software inventory.
  • Setup and maintain WAN connections, including the internet and VPN connections.
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems administration.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies.
  • Continuously analyze current processes and technologies to identify areas of improvement.
  • Ensure security of data, network access, and backup systems.
  • Train employees on both software and hardware and provide technical support.
  • Maintain and coordinate the use of security/alarm systems.
  • Provide IT support to Minogi Corp or other MSIFN subsidiaries as directed by the IS Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 3-year diploma in computer science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience.

Specialization Required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Business environment, Adobe Acrobat Professional, Windows Operating Systems, and Smartphone Operating Systems.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity technologies.
  • Demonstrated competency in maintaining network infrastructure.

Considered An Asset

  • Experience with web design or application design.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture and community dynamics.

About The Benefits
