Reporting to the Production Planning Manager, the primary role of the Production Planner (Continuous Improvement) is to lead, plan, and execute value-added initiatives for the Planning department. The Production Planner will complete projects directly or indirectly aligned with improving the efficiency or effectiveness of processes impacting planning objectives and KPIs. This role involves close collaboration with 5-6 Production Planners, 2-3 Distribution Planners, managers, and key stakeholders in other departments. The Project Manager may also backup planners and manage specific planning processes regularly.

Responsibilities:

  • Estimate and organize time and resources required for projects, determining ROI;
  • Outline project timelines, lead/manage projects involving multiple stakeholders or departments;
  • Lead, plan, and execute value-added initiatives through technology and innovation;
  • Suggest and implement new ways to improve process efficiency and effectiveness impacting planning objectives and KPIs.

25% Production planning

  • Backup scheduler of production lines and/or product transformation lines post-production;
    • Schedule/sequence production priorities;
    • Maintain accurate production order delivery dates;
    • Report finished production output from the previous day;
    • Validate production data input on batches for accuracy and integrity;
    • Report daily schedule attainment to the Production Planning Manager and Director;
    • Respond to production issues, adjust plans, respond to customer inquiries on product availability time frames.

A Day in the Life

Your day starts with an opportunity to chat with colleagues over coffee. Depending on priorities, you focus on moving projects forward for timely delivery. Communicate with planning and cross-functional teams, check emails, investigate tool malfunctions, support planners, and respond to requests. End the day with new ideas and a sense of accomplishment.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or related field;
  • Experience with manufacturing processes, productivity, and efficiencies;
  • Experience using MRP/ERP systems;
  • Strong technology aptitude and understanding of trends/tools;
  • Above-average organization skills and efficient work scheduling;
  • Willingness to work with and gather feedback from various stakeholders;
  • High attention to detail and commitment to meeting deadlines;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (macros, pivot tables, v-lookup, cubes, graphs, etc.);
  • Strong analytical skills, comfortable with large data sets.
