Job Description Director of Engineering, Building Infrastructure

Summary

The function of this role is to lead the Engineering team in establishing, qualifying, and improving processes and procedures through troubleshooting and testing of existing and development of new equipment and tooling. The successful candidate will help develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and procedures in accordance with product specifications and quality standards.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develops manufacturing/building processes by designing and modifying equipment, such as steam line, boiler, HVAC, drainage system.
  • Executes and in the planning and completing design plans to schedule.
  • Overseas and inspects all the plumbing and drainage system, identifying and diagnosing plumbing problems.
  • Identifies deficiencies in mechanical processes, systems, parts and recommends improvements.
  • Manages and maintains equipment operational by proactively coordinating maintenance and repair services, following manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Effectively completes projects by guiding, training and overseeing various technicians.
  • Evaluates data to implement technological improvements in production processes.
  • Implements controls to monitor costs and minimize production issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams and work with contractors.
  • Knowledge of industry related codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Set department goals, objectives, and performance metrics, and track progress towards these goals.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of engineering projects from initiation to completion.
  • Responsible to ensure all equipment such as air compressors, boilers, HVAC, Fire system are functioning properly.
  • Oversee and purchase the necessary equipment on time and arrange for installation and commissioning.
  • Lead and communicates with the operation and scheduling the installation without any interruption to the production.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handling multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in engineering software and tools.

Required Experience / Required Ingredients:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience working in engineering.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment is a definite asset.
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems.
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar.
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, self-motivated and a great team worker.
  • Excellent project management skills, with experience managing complex projects from initiation to completion.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate technicians to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
