As a member of the Management Team, the Director of Construction ensures the smooth running, profitability, and successful completion of all construction projects for our clients across Canada. The incumbent acts as a resource person for any technical aspect of all projects and has the overall responsibility for the management of each Project Manager with the objective of optimal performance and overall success.

Position Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for keeping a high level of quality of project execution.
  • Ensuring successful completion of all projects and an excellent stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Responsible for the management of resources allocated to construction sites – Site-Supervision.
  • Responsible for developing department strategies and streamlining processes.
  • Responsible for validating and encouraging the work of each individual to ensure they obtain their personal best.
  • Motivate employees in the achievement of their objectives.

Position-Specific Tasks for the Director of Construction role:

  1. Participate in overseeing the decisions of all projects on technical approaches, costs, timing, and establishing objectives.
  2. Supervise the selection and coordination of subcontractors working on different stages of multiple projects. Make sure that the resources are not over-utilized or extended.
  3. Oversee the process of project assigning (PM & SS).
  4. Participate in the Post-Mortem meetings of the projects and ensures to transmit the conclusions from these meetings to the team.
  5. Participate in the transfer of the initial project process between the various PM team members.
  6. Ensure that all projects are completed according to the schedules and budget. Ensure that proposed corrective measures are put into action when required or deemed necessary.
  7. Make sure that all procedures relating to the various projects are kept in order and according to the company's policies.
  8. In collaboration with ownership and the H-R Admin, participate in recruitment and the selection of the members of the production team.
  9. In collaboration with the owners, participate in employee performance evaluations for the Production Department.

Position Key Qualifications:

  • Minimum 10-15 years of construction experience in a relevant industry (commercial, industrial, national specialty retail, or comparable construction).
  • Strong Leadership, Time-management, and Organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple Teams at once.
  • Able to work under pressure, within deadlines, and meet the demands of constant change.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (oral and written).
