The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for supporting the Inventory Control manager that is overseeing and coordinating the inventory systems and processes within the Inventory Control department. Reporting to the Inventory Control Manager, this role focuses on educating team members on inventory ERP processes, help with the supporting planning and preparing of physical counts, and supporting, guiding, and training team members on all inventory management and control initiatives. This position requires contributing to the development of internal processes that enhance structure, accuracy, and standardization in inventory controls.
This position is based out of Stayner, Ontario
What you’ll be doing:
Team Leadership:
- Responsible for training all inventory control processes and ERP functions to various members of the Ops Team.
- Provide daily operational guidance to the Inventory Control Team assisting with inventory reconciliations and discrepancy investigations
- Develop a cross-training matrix to support departmental needs and ensure proper coverage for team members
Process Management and Improvement:
- Support and help with the development of and implementation of inventory best practices within the inventory management ERP system (SAP).
- Work closely with the Technical Writer to review and update SOPs and work instructions as required to reflect changes in the business
- Ensure accurate inventory levels for all materials through SAP and MRP, supported by a robust cycle count program
- Review inventory accuracy and SAP system health checks monthly leading up to a year-end physical count, implementing corrective action plans for any discrepancies or deficiencies
Project Management:
- Support inventory-related projects, ensuring timely completion and alignment with business objectives ensuring cross functional collaboration with multiple business units
Reporting and Compliance:
- Report on inventory activities and variances daily, weekly, and monthly to all business levels, including senior management
- Ensure all Health Canada and CRA monthly reports are completed accurately and on time
- Support the Inventory Control Manager in interactions with internal and external auditors concerning Inventory Controls protocols, including understanding Health Canada cannabis regulations
Collaboration and Communication:
- Participate in daily operational meetings, providing guidance on current departmental activities
- Work closely with the Inventory Control Manager on health and safety requirements, employee training and development, and policy and procedure implementation
- Collaborate with other departments, such as Supply Chain, Production, Quality Assurance, Finance and Internal Audit for all inventory related issues and processes and initiatives
On-the-Floor Support:
- Be visible on the floor to support critical decisions and provide direction
- Show flexibility in supporting different functions and duties within the Inventory Control department
- Conduct regular process audits ensuring SOPs and Work Instructions are being followed
- Assist with the preparation of and provide guidance to team members for all year-end inventory audits
- Perform other duties as assigned
Your Environment: (for production specific roles only)
- Must be able to support overtime as needed
- Working weekends and holidays as needed
- Walking, sitting, standing required consistently
- Crouching, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and counting are required
You’ll need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred
- 6-8 years of experience in inventory management, process development and project management
- Strong leadership skills with a minimum of 3-5 years with experience in training and developing team members
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience with ERP systems. SAP is considered a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement SOPs and work instructions
- Experience leading audits and understanding regulatory compliance, particularly with SOX and Health Canada regulations pertaining to the Cannabis Act
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and reporting skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Planning, organizing, multitasking skills and attention to detail are required
- Able to work productively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment
