The Project Manager will assume responsibility for piloting the CCNB's projects relating to IT systems modernization. This key role requires established expertise in project management and a sense of leadership. The manager will work closely with members of the Systems Modernization Steering Committee, as well as with project leaders and their teams to ensure consistency between academic transformation, systems development and renewal priorities, the strategic plan and evidence-based requirements.
This is a 2 year term with possible extension. The position can be located at any of our NBCC locations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
- Conducting projects:
- Coordinate and monitor system modernization projects in partnership with project leaders and other members of the Systems Modernization Steering Committee.
- Design in-depth project plans, including definition of objectives, scope, milestones, deliverables, deadlines, cost estimates, and resource requirements.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks and implement corrective actions to ensure objectives are met.
- Facilitate synergy between different teams, project leaders and the Systems Modernization Steering Committee.
- Resource management:
- Oversee the resources required for the progress of projects, including budgets, in consultation with project leaders and their supervisors.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective communication and resolve potential issues.
- Assessment and prioritization of needs and strategic advice:
- Examine the CCNB's short-term IT system needs in collaboration with the committee and plan for long-term requirements.
- Identify opportunities to optimize existing systems and propose innovative alternatives.
- Keep up to date with the latest trends and technological developments, and propose innovations which can potentially improve the company's business systems.
- Propose evidence-based strategic recommendations to support systems modernization.
- Project monitoring and assessment:
- Manage project risks and issues, identifying and resolving potential issues and minimizing impacts on project performance.
- Ensure the quality of project deliverables, by conducting quality reviews and ensuring that deliverables meet client and stakeholder requirements.
- Organize monitoring and assessment systems to measure the performance of established projects and systems.
- Prepare periodic reports on the progress of projects, the results achieved and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Provide regular and transparent updates to stakeholders on the progress of projects, taking into account any changes that could affect deadlines and expected results.
- Actively gather feedback from stakeholders to understand their needs and expectations, as well as to resolve any issues that may arise.
- Management of suppliers:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with IT system suppliers, negotiate contracts and agreements, and manage performance or service issues.
- Team training and development:
- Ensure training and development of team members relating to technical skills and project management.
- Motivate and lead the team towards achieving excellence in project delivery.
- Change management:
- Take a leadership role in change management, ensuring that changes are planned, managed and implemented in a way that minimizes disruption to the service.
- Ensure the development of an internal communication and change management plan in order to share the progress of projects on a regular basis.
- Assess the effectiveness of IT systems changes in terms of user satisfaction and improved system efficiency.
- Regulatory compliance:
- Ensure compliance with applicable IT systems laws, regulations and policies, including data protection and cybersecurity.
Education/Experience:
- Diploma/Degree in Information technology or related field and a PMP certified.
- Excellent communication skills in English. Proficiency in French is considered as an asset.
- Should have experience in full project life cycle in a complex project environment.
