Position Details:
The Manager, Accounting is responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of financial accounting, tax, and accounts payable areas, including the supervision and development of internal staff. The role includes participation in the financial close process, preparation of financial statements, and completion of various audits. Additionally, the manager will participate in business initiatives such as process improvements, system enhancements, and new product launches.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervision & Assistance: Supervise and assist in all financial accounting and accounts payable activities of the company. Review work performed by internal staff and vendors, including account analyses, account reconciliations, and related journal entries. Ensure all functions are completed timely, accurately, and in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Financial Close Participation: Participate in monthly and quarterly financial close, providing explanations for major variances in operating expense line items before the close. Manage monthly and quarterly deliverables to headquarters.
- Audit Engagement: Act as the main contact for engagements with external and internal auditors. This includes providing support and external data, as well as managing cross-department support requests for the annual and quarterly global component audit, K-SOX audit, and statutory audits.
- Project Participation: Participate in various projects, including process improvements, system upgrades, and new product launches. Assist in the development, testing, and implementation of system conversions, enhancements, and upgrades. Help develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in the accounting area.
- Staff Development: Responsible for staff development, mentoring, and cross-training. Work with staff to implement process improvement ideas and expand their business and system knowledge. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Broad technical accounting background with a good understanding of IFRS and ICFR.
- 6+ years of relevant accounting, audit, and tax experience, preferably with a background in the financial services industry.
Education & Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA, CA required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
- Strong analytical, presentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to establish a high level of credibility with internal operations and external clients, both technical and non-technical.
- Broad knowledge of IT systems, including the ability to design data extract queries and assist in the design of system specifications for new or existing products.
- High integrity, work ethic, self-starter, and highly motivated.
- Creative, innovative, and adaptable to change.
- High energy and ability to work in a fast-paced business environment.
