WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

ACML is actively seeking an Assistant Chief Engineer for the Bentall Centre located in Vancouver, BC whose main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Coordinate and manage the shift engineers in their day-to-day responsibilities to carry out daily building and mechanical rounds as well as the trouble shooting of mechanical equipment and unscheduled repairs.
  2. Assist in developing, coordinating and implementing the manpower training programs for the departments and to maintain and improve quality, efficiency and capital upgrades.
  3. Maintain liaison between departments, tenants and maintenance as required.
  4. Inspect equipment to ensure that it is operating within correct parameters.
  5. Responsible for preventative maintenance, operation and servicing of mechanical facilities and the property in accordance with our preventative maintenance program.
  6. Perform general repairs and maintenance building interior/exterior as required.
  7. Monitor and respond to tenant service requests through Angus Anywhere system and perform/coordinate necessary repairs and services as required.
  8. Monitor tenant construction to ensure base building systems are not altered or damaged and that the building codes are followed by contractors working at the property.
  9. Carry out repairs and maintenance of plumbing fixtures, including faucets, flush valves and related hardware.
  10. Perform roof maintenance including inspection and cleaning of roof, drains and gutters.
  11. Repair common area equipment (including door hardware, closers, locks, etc.).
  12. Participate in testing of fire and life safety systems, per governing regulations and codes (including emergency generator testing, fire alarm testing, etc.).
  13. Ensure all regulatory codes and permits from the City of Vancouver and the BC Safety Authority are adhered and are up to date.
  14. Participate in environmental, health and safety programs.
  15. Assist in the purchase of materials and supplies within spending limits in adherence with purchasing procedures & policies.
  16. Assist in the annual budgeting process for the building and ensure to stay in compliance with budgeted costs throughout the year.
  17. Ensure all required documentation related to preventative, scheduled and ad hoc maintenance is completed and maintained as per established practices.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

This position is required to work a regular shift rotation which will include evenings, and may include weekends and holidays. Overtime and on-call work as required which will require participation in the after-hours emergency response on call program.

WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. 4th Class Power Engineer; Trades background is considered an asset
  3. Water treatment experience is considered an asset; training to be provided
  4. Minimum 5-7 years experience as a Building Operator in a mix-use high-rise office/retail building
  5. Must have a solid understanding of the maintenance and operational routines of large mechanical equipment.
  6. Proven computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook)
  7. Must have extensive experience with Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems, ESC and Delta product or similar
  8. Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and Building Automation System (BAS)
  9. Ability to read and understand drawings and schematics
  10. Experience with Fire Alarm systems is considered an asset
  11. Ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written)
  12. Ability to work in a team environment
