Position Overview

The Director of Programs and Impact (DPI) is a dynamic senior leadership role responsible for shaping, developing, and implementing strategic and transformative programs and community initiatives that serve individuals and children impacted by domestic abuse. Working closely with the Executive Director, the DPI leads the development and delivery of high-quality, trauma and violence-informed programs, aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and long-term strategic goals. This position oversees program leadership, strategic direction, evaluation, program teams, and partnerships to ensure a lasting impact on the community.


Key Responsibilities


Program Leadership & Strategy

• Collaborates with the Executive Director and Program Leadership to establish the strategic direction for all programs, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall service delivery model.

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of all program frameworks and initiatives, ensuring they address the evolving needs of the community and participants.

• Ensure program goals and services are trauma and violence-informed, client-centered, culturally appropriate, and consistently meet organizational standards.

• Drive the continuous improvement and impact of programs by implementing and overseeing monitoring and evaluation frameworks.

• Foster a culture of performance, collaboration, and innovation, encouraging input and feedback from program teams to improve service delivery and outcomes.


Program Evaluation & Impact

• Regularly assess program effectiveness, outcomes, and participant satisfaction through ongoing evaluation and feedback, identifying opportunities for improvements.

• Use data-driven analysis to inform strategic decisions and program adjustments.

• Lead quarterly and annual program reporting, including narrative and statistical analysis, and report findings to the Executive Director.


Partnerships & Community Engagement

• Build and maintain strategic alliances and partnerships with community stakeholders, funders, and service providers to promote program continuity, effective utilization, and community impact.

• Represent the organization at external events, including board or committee meetings and presentations, as needed, providing program-related updates and reports.

• Lead community initiatives to improve collaboration and continuity of services for those impacted by domestic abuse


Operations & Risk Management

• In collaboration with leadership, support the operational aspects of programs, ensuring facility maintenance, safety, and compliance with organizational standards.

• Ensure the safety and security of program buildings and infrastructure, in collaboration with Leadership and OHS teams.

• Manage the Client Record Management System (e.g., Nucleus), ensuring efficient, confidential workflows, and support the integration of technology to enhance service delivery.

• Accountable policy development for all programs ensuring best practices, aligning with strategic plan, legislation, legal and regulatory standards, and funding agreements. In collaboration with Program Leadership


Financial Management & Funding

• Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team to develop, manage, and monitor program budgets and funding proposals.

• Ensure compliance with funder requirements, program policies, and contractual obligations, providing timely reports and updates.

• Oversee program expenditures and funding allocations, providing financial recommendations in collaboration with the Director of Finance.

• Fund development, including grant writing and reporting


Human Resources & Team Development

• Identify skills and competencies needed to achieve program goals, participating in recruitment, onboarding, and training.

• Provide leadership, supervision, and professional development opportunities to program and services leadership, conducting regular performance reviews.

• Collaborate on workforce planning, ensuring that the framework meets operational, funding, and programmatic needs.

• Develop and implement training plans for program leadership, ensuring continuous learning and growth for all team members.


Leadership & Accountability

• As a member of the leadership team, contribute to the organization’s long-term strategic planning and goal-setting processes.

• Provide regular reports to the Executive Director, including monthly updates, program evaluations, and strategic plan contributions.

• Ensure adherence to program guidelines, policies, and safety protocols, providing ongoing guidance and feedback to managers and staff.

• Take responsibility for the overall performance of programs, including meeting strategic objectives, delivering on outcomes, and complying with funding agreements.


Required Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Social Work, Community Development, Social Sciences, Leadership, or Organizational Development, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of seven years of experience in a similar leadership role, preferably in non-profit or social services.

• Excellent Digital, Software, and Technological Literacy

• Proven track record of developing and scaling programs that address community needs and deliver measurable impact.

• Strong analytical, financial, and decision-making skills, with experience managing budgets, grant agreements, and complex program operations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, balancing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines.


Other Requirements

• Valid Driver’s License and access to a vehicle in good operational condition.

• Successful completion of a vulnerable sector criminal record check.

• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, board members, community organizations, and external stakeholders.

• Comfortable working in environments with potential exposure to high-stress situations and frequent interruptions.
