Technical Project Manager (Data/Insurance)

Part Time / Full Time

We are looking for an IT Project Manager on a contract basis for our client in the Insurance/Financial sector.

Duration: 12 months

Location: 1d/week Toronto

Responsibilities

  • Lead multiple projects simultaneously, focusing on IT and business initiatives, with a strong emphasis on data warehousing, financial systems, and rating engine implementations.
  • Drive projects from initiation to completion, managing all stages including requirements gathering, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Oversee and negotiate change requests (CRs) with vendors, ensuring project deliverables are met within the allocated budget.
  • Maintain strong communication channels with all stakeholders, including reporting to the executive team (President and VPs) every 6 weeks on project progress.
  • Apply your knowledge in insurance and financial services to ensure projects align with industry standards and best practices.
  • Utilize a mix of agile and waterfall approach to project management, leveraging tools such as Smartsheets and Azure DevOps for effective tracking and delivery.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in project management, with a proven track record in leading IT and business projects.
  • Experience in Data Warehouse implementations.
  • Strong background in the insurance or financial services sectors is ideal.
  • Familiarity with Smartsheets, Azure DevOps, and other project management tools.
  • Experience in managing budgets in the range of $1M+, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within scope.
  • Proven ability to manage vendors and negotiate contract terms effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and report to executive-level stakeholders.
