Our energy client is seeking an Int. Network Telecommunications Technician to support NOC and Field Communications team with network management, upgrades, installation, and documentation within a Nokia/Cisco environment.

The successful candidate must be available to work in the office in downtown Calgary or on-site in Sherwood Park Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Fridays. Additionally, the candidate will be expected to participate in an on-call rotation every 6-8 weeks, which involves being available from 4pm Friday to 7am Monday for two consecutive weekends. During this time, the candidate must be able to respond and assist within 30 minutes.

Must have:

  • 5+ yrs working within Networks or Telecommunications (Network management, upgrades, installation, troubleshooting, and design)
  • 2+ yrs Field network and/or Network Operations Centre (NOC) experience
  • 2+ yrs SCADA experience
  • Nokia NRS or Cisco CCNA or CCNP or equivalent experience
  • Exceptional documentation and reporting skills (oral, written, and presentation) related to network and telecommunication activities
  • Class 5 Alberta drivers license

  • ServiceNow and ITIL best practices
  • Microsoft Azure/Azure networking
  • Linux Red Hat, Debian
  • WAN technologies MPLS, VSAT, LTE/cellular, etc.
  • iDirect Evolution (Satellite)
  • MQTT and relates software
  • Microwave and narrow band radio systems
  • Experience working within high pressure and low downtime environments (maintenance and break/fix scenarios)

Additional requirements/responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide data transport of various communications protocols and formats including IP (MPLS, TCP/IP, MQTT) and serial RS232
  • Initiate, design, document, and maintain telecommunications systems at tower sites, pipeline facilities, and data centers
  • Manage the health, stability, and performance of network technologies and services
  • Provide support to Field Communications teams and to Pembina operations
  • Work effectively with other OT/IS peer groups with different areas of responsibility (i.e. OT field groups, SCADA Infrastructure, Security, IT Networks, etc.)
  • Operating a highly secure network, utilizing logical segmentation and layered security design
  • Willingness to work in both office and field environments
