The pan-Canadian Pharmaceutical Alliance (pCPA) is a cornerstone of Canada’s world-class pharmaceutical negotiation and policy ecosystem. As a unique pan-Canadian collaboration of all Canadian provinces, territories and the federal government, the pCPA significantly contributes to the sustainability of the Canadian healthcare system through the alliance’s collaborative approach to negotiating reduced drug prices for the public drug plans from coast to coast to coast, resulting in considerable savings totalling more than $4B annually. Leveraging the advantages of its recent incorporation, the pCPA brings together dedicated and experienced professionals from across the country, all uniquely positioned to meaningfully improve access to safe and effective evidence-based medicines while supporting drug system sustainability.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is accountable to the Board of Directors by providing overall leadership and direction to pCPA. They will be responsible for continuing to develop and mature strategic and operational plans to advance its mission and objectives as established by the Board. Leading a growing organization of more than 40 staff, through a strong cohesive and high performing Leadership team, and managing the financial resources, the CEO will focus on achieving four key strategic priorities – operational excellence, working better together, purpose driven partnership and organizational resilience. To achieve these strategic priorities, the CEO will lead a high performance, highly engaged and empowered team. The CEO will provide strategic and operational guidance, set performance targets and measures and monitor outcomes. The CEO will champion organizational development, sustainability and the vision, mission and values of the organization.

The new CEO will be recognized as a respected and knowledgeable leader in healthcare, government, or business. They will thrive in a complex environment that requires both political and technical acumen and they will have demonstrated experience and success in working in government systems. They will be a strong team builder and a people centric, empathetic leader with a high Emotional Quotient. The incumbent will be an excellent communicator and relationship builder and work well with a wide variety of stakeholders. They will bring proven experience leading an organization and leading a team of professionals in a government or not-for-profit environment.

The successful candidate can be located anywhere within Canada.
