Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a Senior Structural Bridge Engineer ready to join our growing Canadian Operations within our Engineering Design Organization supporting Transportation projects. The Bridge and Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large-scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads, and bridges.

Our team provides full-service bridge engineering, including:

  1. Project planning
  2. Conceptual design
  3. Lifecycle cost analysis
  4. Load evaluation
  5. Inspections
  6. Fatigue
  7. Preliminary design
  8. Detailed design
  9. Construction administration/inspection
  10. Asset management support

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  1. Successful participation in, and completion of multi-disciplined bridge projects, rail bridges, and complex design.
  2. Providing technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff.
  3. Collaboration in small and large teams, leading the integration with other engineering disciplines, engineers, and design staff in the production of high-quality project deliverables.
  4. Production of conceptual design, detailed design, technical specifications, cost, and schedule estimating.
  5. Working within various procurement models and roles.
  6. Preparation of reports, and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public.
  7. Maintaining contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies, and clients.
  8. Exposure to project planning, development, and monitoring of project schedules, and budgets.
What you will bring to the team:
  1. A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required.
  2. 15+ years of experience in design and engineering of bridge projects.
  3. Experience and understanding of alternative delivery methodology.
  4. Metrolinx and AREMA experience.
  5. CN Rail, CP Rail, and MTO experience are considered an asset.
  6. Familiarity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC), Ontario design standards (e.g., OPSS), and client specific standards and requirements (e.g., MTO).
  7. Experience in managing/mentoring or leading a group is considered an asset.
  8. Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
