Temporary Field Technologist

The successful candidate will be involved in the construction monitoring, QA/QC monitoring, compaction testing, and field sampling. Working on various projects around the city and in the laboratory. The work environment includes diverse construction projects that require close attention to safety and excellent verbal communication skills.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Conducting field inspections, earthwork, concrete testing, and piling inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications and industry standards
  • Monitoring and documenting construction activities to verify that they meet design specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Providing client representatives with field and laboratory testing results and monitoring subcontractor adherence to design specifications
  • Coordinating with project team members, including engineers and contractors, to ensure that all work is performed to the highest standards
  • Performing quality control testing and reporting on the installation of construction
  • Pay rate will be $27.00 to $33.00 per hour depending on work experience

What We’re Looking For

  • Undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering and/or technologist credentials, along with experience in labor-intensive roles, are considered valuable assets
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of civil construction techniques, materials, and equipment
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
  • Preference will be given to those who have a membership with ASET
  • Strong commitment to safety, knowledge of safety regulations, and experience in implementing safety procedures

Working Conditions, Schedule, and Physical Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada on an ongoing basis
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract and 2 years experience in the industry field
  • Working schedule up to 12-hour days; day and night shifts
  • Physical ability to perform field work as required. A fitness for work test will be performed before hiring
  • Successfully complete a drug & alcohol test
