PROFILE SUMMARY

We are actively seeking a highly engaged, driven and experienced Building Relief Manager to join our team. This is a part-time position, working weekends and holidays and potentially providing vacation coverage for the full-time Resident Building Managers. This role will be responsible for apartment buildings, some condo units and houses. The Building Relief Manager is the first point of contact for tenant requests and is expected to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the tenants of the building and to keep the building maintained to a high standard. This role will not be required to live on-site.


The weekend coverage schedule will be as follows:

Scheduled Working Hours: Saturday & Sunday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
On-Call Hours: Friday at 5:00 pm to Saturday at 8:30 am. Sunday at 5:00 pm to Monday at 8:30 am


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Make appointments and show suites to potential renters.
  • Administration of the Residential Tenancy Act (process applications and prepare tenancy agreements, building notices, cautions letters, correspondence, eviction notices, and move-ins and move-outs).
  • Conduct Condition Inspections for tenants moving in or out.
  • Respond to tenant emergencies (fire, flood, life safety, etc.) and inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationship with tenants.
  • Any other duties reasonably expected of a building manager, including light cleaning where necessary.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs (e.g. leaking faucets or repairing minor electrical) and other basic maintenance tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs and maintenance activities.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum one (1) year of related experience in Building Management.
  • 1 year of administrative experience is an asset, but not required.
  • Strong working knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act.
  • Understanding of the Human Rights Act.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management.
  • Knowledge of operations procedures and general maintenance (minor plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry).
  • Ability to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Class 5 drivers license and own car to travel between properties (mileage will be reimbursed).
  • Deep understanding of business professionalism.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Self starter, hands-on mentality with the ability to work independently and without supervision.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety and experience in working with HAZMAT is an asset.

EXPECTED COMPENSATION

  • Hourly Base Salary: The expected salary range for this role is $20 - $23 per hour. Actual offered salary will depend on individual experience, qualifications, geographic location, market conditions for the role, and internal equity.
