About the job:

The Prosthetist plays a vital role in enhancing clients' quality of life by designing and fitting prostheses tailored to their individual needs. Responsibilities include assessing referrals, determining clients' requirements, and selecting or creating suitable prosthetic devices. The Prosthetist is also involved in fitting, adjusting, and evaluating existing prostheses, offering recommendations for repairs or replacements. Collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, health care providers, and suppliers is essential, as is staying updated on the latest advancements in prosthetic technology and promoting services within the community.

About the location:

Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) is a 500 bed tertiary site with multiple areas of practice including acute medical care, acute surgical care, cardiac, general orthopedic surgical, ICU and ED. We also have a 38 bed in-patient tertiary Rehab Unit, various clinics and Outpatient Rehab programs. A broad scope of patients are seen. There is a little bit of everything including pediatrics.

KGH’s Prosthetic and Orthotic Department is a full service department integrated with the Rehabilitation Centre. The Prosthetist will receive support from the Professional Practice Leader (PPL), current Orthotists and Technical staff on-site, as well rehabilitation colleagues from across Interior Health.

Qualfications
• Completion of recognized Prosthetics Program and two years’ recent experience in a rehabilitation health care setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Certification in Prosthetics from the Canadian Board for Certification of Prosthetists and Orthotists (CBCPO) and eligible for membership in the Canadian Association for Prosthetics and Orthotics (CAPO).
