Summary

The Project Coordinator is accountable for controlling and delivering engineering projects from concept to completion to facilitate improvements to the site’s operation in accordance with best practice project management principles and the relevant standards, procedures, regulations and budgetary requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manages and coordinates capital and non-capital engineering related projects such that they are delivered in full, on time and within budget while meeting all safety, quality and environmental targets.
  2. Manages projects in accordance with best practice principles, company systems and procedures, and in accordance with the Simplot Stage Gate and Project Management framework.
  3. Manages the project budget and works closely with Finance to plan, manage and report cash spend.
  4. Ensures capital projects are capitalized and closed in a timely manner and in accordance with Financial Policy.
  5. Supports and participates in Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) of capital projects.
  6. Develops User Requirement Specifications, Functional Design Specifications, and other scoping documents as required to support Front End Loading of capital projects.
  7. Develops and implements project quality documentation to ensure that equipment is delivered, unpacked, assembled and installed to the required standard.
  8. Develops commissioning and site handover plans and executes the plan in accordance with agreed timelines.
  9. Liases with local, state and national regulatory bodies where appropriate to ensure that projects satisfy current statutory and legislative requirements.
  10. Maintains awareness of engineering standards and regulations and keeps abreast of technological developments and innovations within the engineering arena.
Typical Education

Bachelor's Degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a 4 year college or university

Relevant Experience

5+ years related experience and/or training

Required Certifications

Other Information

  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite, AutoCAD and/or 3D modelling software.
  • Development of specifications, tender and contract documents.
  • Ability to effectively build rapport, communicate with and work cohesively with employees at all levels of the business – management, staff and shop floor personnel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the writing of technical reports.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized.
  • Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
  • Team focused and ability to relate well in an operationally diverse work place environment.
  • At least 5 years’ demonstrable Project Engineering/Management experience in a manufacturing/operations sector, preferably FMCG or Food and Beverage.
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and groups of contractors.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of Lean.
