As part of Scotiabank Global Risk Management, the Enterprise Market Risk group is at the forefront of managing the Bank's market risk capital and stress testing program in response to current regulatory & market changes and risk management initiatives. The group is responsible for the analysis of market risk exposure, through Value at Risk (VaR) and capital, for the full suite of capital markets products.

The incumbent will ensure that enterprise market risk exposure is accurately measured and explained by the market movement and Bank’s trading strategies. This role is ideal for a person familiar with capital markets and regulatory requirements with a quantitative background and proven interest in market risk management. This is the opportunity to join a tightly collaborative team and build a career in risk management with immense support for personal and career development.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Collaborate with various groups to analyze market risk capital results and enhance the implementation of FRTB.
  • Responsible for market risk monitoring on the enterprise level; using analytics to understand and effectively communicate the key drivers of various risk metrics to relevant stakeholders in risk, capital, finance, front office, including the Bank's Senior Management.
  • Work with market risk modelling and technology team to improve accuracy and effectiveness of Bank’s market risk management.
  • Responsible for daily report and monthly/quarterly regulatory market risk reporting.
  • Lead a team with 1-2 direct reports.

Required skills:

  • Knowledge of capital market, market risk, VaR, financial derivatives, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain curiosity and be self-driven to find answers to questions through independent research and/or discussion with peers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent detail-oriented and multi-tasking skills.
  • Working experiences in PowerBI/Tableau, intermediate programming (VBA, Python, SQL, Unix Bash script, etc.).
