Job Summary

The Global VP, IT Operations will serve as a key stakeholder in the development of the IT strategy, strategic project review, innovation of goals to aid in futureproofing the organization, as well as identify and mentor high potential talent across IT. This role will develop and drive the global strategies for: RES computer platforms (on-premises and Cloud), global network, end user experience, services delivery, monitoring, and operations. This position will ensure RES Group leads the industry with a robust, modern, and agile infrastructure to support the business’ growth and will focus on the right investments to deliver best value and best service.

The role will also be responsible for future-proofing the landscape of our company’s infrastructure and network as well as the develop and manage our disaster recovery strategy. Furthermore, this role will be the point person on disaster recovery execution when needed. This role will be a key partner to the regional IT leadership across the global, as well as across our global applications and cybersecurity leadership.

This role will report to the Group CIO and will lead an international team with global reach. Will work closely stakeholders at all levels across multiple geographies, ensuring and supporting effective alignment and delivery of IT Services and Projects.

Essential Functions

Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation. These functions require a significant amount of time (at least 10%) in the performance of the job.

  1. Sets the mission, strategy, and roadmap of the Infrastructure & Operations organization to foster a business-oriented culture, prioritize resources and drive continual service improvement.
  2. Defines network standards, across all sites and office locations around the world; build, manage and implement roadmap and coordinate investments.
  3. Leads the technical infrastructure & operational efforts through the acquisition and divestiture lifecycle.
  4. Develops and deploys a strategy for Infrastructure & IT Operations capabilities, roles, responsibilities, and global staffing model.
  5. Sets up world class Service Delivery organization, focusing on business needs first, our customers and clients.
  6. Manages overall ITIL IT Service Management processes and drive continuous improvement within – incident, problem, and change.
  7. Builds and manages enterprise monitoring solution to provide advance support and increased reliability for technology services.
  8. Defines and implements a modern and flexible end user experience strategy that focuses on providing frictionless technology solutions for all RES employees.
  9. Builds a customer centric global framework to allow for Infrastructure & Operation standards to provide regional flexibility and adapt for each region/country and market while maintaining security of our intellectual property, data, systems, business operations, and people.
  10. Outlines key resource skills needed to future-proof organization in partnership with other IT leaders– allowing for agile mindset to be adopted in setting up infrastructure and operational support.
  11. Defines hosting (SaaS, cloud and on Prem) strategy, in partnership with applications teams to determine the most cost effective and service friendly way to host RES technology solutions.
  12. Defines skills / roles requirements to develop and adhere to systems availability, recoverability, security, and other operational standards in partnership with other IT leaders.
  13. Ensures cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs and respond with agility to changing business priorities.
  14. Develops and monitors operating and capital expenditure budgets to ensure consistency with overall strategic IT objectives.
  15. Leverages influencing and negotiation skills across IT and the enterprise to enable cost-effective and innovative shared solutions, including managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts.
  16. Stays abreast of industry trends to be competitive in the market.
  17. Sets strategy, develop, implement, and manage company disaster recovery & business continuity plans.
  18. Collaborates with P&C and IT leadership team to design an efficient workforce with multi-faceted competencies including both business knowledge and technical skills. Mentors the Infrastructure & Operations leadership team.

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with other IT leaders to ensure that IT services are integrated and aligned with the broader IT strategy.
  2. Acts as a trusted advisor, builds and maintains relationships with other IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs.
  3. Provides input on the service portfolio and governance required to prioritize resources in collaboration with IT senior leadership team.
  4. Serves on IT planning and policymaking committees; drives the development of enterprise technology standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards, governance processes, performance metrics to ensure the Infrastructure & Operations unit delivers value to the enterprise. Develops and implements policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  5. Collaborates with a global IT and business stakeholders across multiple time zones by occasionally attending meetings outside of core business hours as needed.
  6. Oversees and participates as an escalation point in an IT on call rotation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Deep understanding of operational methodologies and best practices across various functional areas, including, but not limited to, business development, engineering, procurement, construction, digital and services.
  2. Excellent knowledge of the ITIL framework and best practices and IT Service Management processes.
  3. Strong analytical skills to address complex challenges and make informed decisions.
  4. Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Good understanding of common project delivery and software development frameworks (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, DevOps, scrum, agile, waterfall), with hands-on experience working within some of these.
  6. Proficiency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
  7. Strong leadership qualities and strategic mindset to drive technology initiatives. Ability to assess business needs and develop action plans.
  8. Budget management skills and financial understanding to control costs and allocate resources effectively.
  9. Analytical skills to address complex challenges and make informed decisions.
  10. Exposure to large scale business operations and services industry, preferably within Engineering Procurement Construction (EPC), development, O&M services, and/or digital product focused companies. Technical leadership experience within a renewable energy company desired.
  11. Demonstrated experience driving digital transformation and business growth through innovation and the implementation of infrastructure and related technology.
  12. Possesses solid knowledge in emerging technologies, and the ability to apply these in the service of the company’s key business goals.
  13. Experience leading complex projects, programs, and major change initiatives; demonstrated skills in change management.
  14. Experience building an enterprise level infrastructure and operations services with global reach and multi-lingual support.
  15. Able and interested to pursue new business optimization opportunities to support and drive towards RES company business objectives.
  16. Builder of strong technology vendor partnerships, and able to manage multiple vendor relationships to ensure the best performance and financial return.
  17. Demonstrated experience with SaaS, cloud-based, and outsourced solutions through third party providers.
  18. Knowledge of a range of vendor technology solutions; able to select and integrate the most appropriate technologies to support the business.
  19. Experience designing and managing an effective IT governance framework across the spectrum of IT service delivery.
  20. Comfortable with ambiguity; can handle the unexpected with flexibility.
  21. Strong ability to build and manage appropriate security architecture to protect assets and ensure business continuity in collaboration with IT Security function.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree - Management of Information Systems or related or equivalent years of experience.
  2. Project or Programme Management Certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, MSP).
  3. ITIL v3 or v4 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.

Work Experience

  1. Experience of working in an IT service delivery, business partnership leadership or similar role.
  2. Leadership experience in medium to large organizations.
