Position Goal:

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining financial and business transactions, applying accounting principles, that include work that is analytical, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of SAP system, accounting theory and practice.

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform analysis of sales and product cost variances from the time of quotation through to actual results
  2. Prepare monthly project accruals, and financial reports
  3. Work with Purchasing and Receiving/Stores on inventory management in SAP, ensure correct inventory valuation
  4. Assist each department with their SAP concerns
  5. Prepare account reconciliations
  6. Participate in SAP improvement projects (Both Winnipeg and Regina)
  7. Respond to external auditor queries
  8. Develop and maintain management reports on product and inventory costs
  9. Reconcile some P&L accounts to ensure accuracy of monthly balances
  10. Prepare Ad Hoc reports as requested by other departments
  11. Apply principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports
  12. Maintain and update Finance Work Instructions, pertinent to this role
  13. Prepare the monthly revenue packages
  14. Review daily invoices posted by the AP Analyst

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Management, or Mathematics
  2. CPA Accounting designated or working towards a CPA designation
  3. Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience, preferably within one of the following sectors: manufacturing, construction, transportation
  4. Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Advanced Excel and SAP
  5. Advanced computer literacy
  6. Superior organization, time management and team-building skills
  7. Accuracy and attention to detail
  8. Ability to work on multiple projects, meet deadlines, and prioritize workload
  9. Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  10. Highly analytical and detail-oriented
  11. Outstanding numeric and mathematical skills
  12. High levels of integrity and honesty
